The Daily Mail links us and Villa with Ghanaian right back (also plays centre back, but I'm sure that's not where we're needing him) Samuel Inkoom. Ironically, he currently plays for Dnipro. He only joined them in January, but the Mail with typical measured journalism describes us as looking to offer him 'a route out of his Ukranian hell'. Apparently he's suffered from racial abuse out there and had his house burgled. So, it's plausible that he'll be lining up against us on Saturday, or on Thursday, or playing for us in either or both of those games, if the Mail is to be believed. He's due to play for Ghana against Nigeria at Watford tonight - if the game goes ahead - and our people are going to take a good look at him there. A Ghanaian right back at Fulham. Whoever heard of such a thing? I don't know if he does laps of honour.
Hutton is now rumoured.... http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/fulham-ready-snap-tottenham-fullback-hutton-1805551
If Inkoom is playing for Dnipro, I think that means he'll be cup tied for us. No Euro Cup, which limits his value. Hutton's great. He's been my favorite all along.
I'm not arguing for Inkoom over Hutton - before this morning I'd never heard of Inkoom - but you're mistaken, DR, on him being cup-tied. So far he hasn't appeared for them in the Europa league this season. As far as a couple of minutes of googling can tell, he hasn't even made the bench for them. If we were to sign him, he'd be available for us in all competitions. But I'd be happy with Hutton, depending on the fee.
Hutton please. Remember when he was playing for Rangers and being linked to Man Utd et al? Then he joined the Spurs black hole....
Inkoom brings up a thought. It must be discouraging to be a Villa fan these days. It's like a fire sale over there. Fifty percent off everything that walks and talks. Stewart Downing, Ashley Young, Brad Friedel and Nigel Reo-Coker have all left. Those are some very good players.
Assuming that the game goes ahead, I'm going to the Villa game with a good friend of mine who's a Villa fan (We're in the neutral section - my first time there). He's excited by the signings of Given and N'Zogbia, and expecting Albrighton to step up into the vacuum left by Downing and Young. If he's anything to go by, Villa fans aren't too despondent right now.
Truthfully if i was a Villa fan i wouldnt be disappointed with losing downing and young, as that Mark Albrighton is a very good player and will be good to see him playing most games and N'zongbia IMO is better then Downing, hes faster more creative and has got a wicked shot on him,
