Well I hope for the Club that this decision works For Adams has nothing to lose, Keep us up, then he´s a hero, but fail It´s still Hughton fans will accuse I´m at a loss to explain how or why This season at times has been poor, But certain I am in my belief that we Can´t lay all the blame at one door And this smacks like a touch of panic to me And seems most unMcNally-like, Hoping for the Di Canio effect here And wanting one more lightening strike I have to admit to having sympathy For Hughton, but he must have known, That defeat to West Brom just was the last straw And his final chances had flown He does deserve thanks, although none may concur For keeping us safe for so long, Under a barrage of acrimony He somehow managed to stay strong I hope that this will somehow galvanise those Who´ve patently let Hughton down, Otherwise we could still easily see A Championship ´Derby´ with Town For I fear the 32 points that we have Are three short of what we will need, And even that might not do, so Adams N The best of luck, and all God´s speed. I tend to agree the timing is poor. If he has only just lost the dressing room then I guess fair enough, if he lost it a while ago he should of gone then, if its purely on fans reaction its a bit sad and if its on results again not sure the time is right. Sensible to bring someone in who the players know in Adams, I would be more concerned if they bought in someone from outside for just 5 matches. Hopefully their decision will pay off.
I'm afraid I respectfully disagree RBF. The writing has been on the wall for Hughton since early December. We now have one away match to secure survival - Adams is well-known by all the players so I can't imagine it will be a difficult transition. Hopefully this will be a big lift for Saturday, particularly with the fans. The reason for the timing is clear - it must have been the dressing room and senior players. No other explanation for Hughton having been kept until now. It was clear from the players' reactions on Saturday that they have lost faith in Hughton and once that happens it is best to pull the trigger quickly.
Sad because CH is a true gent and the type of guy who one could be proud to run the team, just think the pressure to much following the terrible showing on Saturday, the players lacked passion thought and togetherness, hope Neil can pull it around but I'm not holding my breath, a change had to come, just wish Hucks was involved. Still believe the underlying problem was the quality of the backroom staff and DM should have made CH change them ages ago for a couple of inspirational figures rather than Trollope and Calderwood Anyway another twist in the history of NCFC really hope we can get that win to stay up, but will still be there next year if we don't City til I die ps shame on the person who threw the clapper at CH that was disgusting and I hope they are found and ejected from their seat
No problem about disagreeing Rob, we are all allowed to feel the way we do. You say it will hopefully give the fans a lift, but with all due respect it´s never been the away support that has been critical, it´s a section of the home supporters that have helped to create the somewhat poisonous atmosphere that we´ve had to endure as soon as the first pass goes astray. I´m keeping everything crossed I can that we´ll see a change in fortunes, and I wish Adams all the best, but we all know that the players too have got to come up with a completely different attitude and mindset than they´ve done recently, to see any change. I´ll begin to believe it, if and when I see it - here´s hoping.
I also feel the timing was terrible, and I do not agree with the sacking. However I am behind Neil Adams and I hope that he can get us the points we need to stay up although I won't be able to attend any of the remaining games. I have to say I expected better from our fans on Saturday and better from McNally yesterday but the season is not over and we can finish it on the right side of the bottom 3. Hoping Spurs can do us a favour tonight and beat Sunderland. OTBC
I don't know why people keep saying he is well known by the players. He hasn't been working with the reserve/U21 team. He has been working with the youth team. My guess is that Colney is awash with senior player googling the name Neil Adams. I doubt Gutierrez listened to Canary Call.
I think we're talking at cross-purposes a bit though. It's true the away support has been good and home support has not always been great, but our home form has actually been very good so it can hardly be blamed on the fans?? I meant a lift just in the sense of a feeling of positivity. It's going to be a nervy atmosphere on Saturday to say the very least! I agree that the key is with the attitude and mindset of the players - but I think that only would happen with a new manager. Saturday showed that.
There is an old saying RBF "If it aint broke don`t fix it" ...... To me it looked broken and in need of repair .
Hi all, I think my views are well enough known that I don't need to repeat them. After the shameful actions of some of the fans on Saturday, this was inevitable! My post on Saturday, wishing to disassociate myself from the shameful supporters was aimed at those morons in the crowd, I know that KIO and chippie and a few others have had fall-outs with me, but they have mainly been because our passionate support of our beautiful club has taken us in different directions, I will always be proud to count them as friends and fellow supporters! I hope that clears that up Maestro?
I'm pretty sure it has been announced that the u18s and the senior team train together relatively regularly. He will definitely know the players and if the guess is correct that senior players finally lost faith in Hughton being the principle reason for the timing of this, then I doubt Adams would have been given the job without consultation with the team.
This is from the Guardian. Who knows how much truth is in it though: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/apr/06/norwich-chris-hughton-sacked-west-bromwich
they often train together. however, there is little doubt that many of the senior players will not have the same respect for adams that they had for the man who brought them to the club. this move is designed to appease fans, not players. and that scares me tremendously.
Ha. Look what someone dug out (Can someone turn this into a pic on here rather than a link please): https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BkkKO4jCMAAKPfO.jpg
Whilst I have been supportive of Hootun throughout his tenure, and fully expected him to complete the job and see us through to safety this season, I have to say that the news of last night didn't shock me at all. I personally think it is the correct decision made at the right time and don't subscribe to the notion that the timing is ridiculous at all. We need to win one more game this year and that for me should be enough, and I have never been as confident that we are going to win a game as I am about Saturday as I can see absolutely no way in the world that we won't be victorious at the Cottage. Hootun had clearly lost the fanbase, and it was starting to look more certain that he'd lost big parts of the dressing room as well so the feel good factor this decision will provide should lift the players and give them extra energy on Saturday - and the fans are surely going to be well up for it, creating a superb atmosphere. I am just devastated that I was so stupid as to miss out on a ticket to it, I always go to Fulham and have had some shocking days out down there but I have an incredibly positive feeling that for once it's all going to work out ok this weekend. Arsenal at home last game of the season isn't looking that tricky now either.
Yeah, you're right that it probably will conclusively. But I'm pretty positive the evidence was there
You should still be able to get a ticket in the neutral stand, which virtually feels like a Norwich section
