So after the capture of Santi today id like to know which areas left in the squad you would like to improve on. You get a good buzz on the forums today that this is the turning point we all wanted to see last season. My recommendations Cover RB Van De Weil Cover CB (Smaling type figure) Someone young with great potential. RVP - Would love him to stay and lead the front line however the press release pissed too many off and unless he commits before the start of the season id just take what ever money we can get. 1 good season doesnt gift you 200k per week. Theo mixed feelings on this. On his day he is a world beater but when hes not we may as well have 10 players on the pitch If we get 75% of the above i will be a even happier man. Also going to list 2 players who would sure up our defence to no end. Dreamland Signings ofc Bains hear me out on this one. Yes gibbs has potential but hes very injury prone and hes no Ashley Cole. 2nd best left back in the PL and would also help the plan B balls into the box for Giroud Toulalan This guy oozes class but hes been injured for quite awhile and not sure how he will come back from it.
On the young cb, I think they've got Bartley in mind for that. Unless Djourou goes, I doubt we'll be buying another central defender. We definitely need a cover right back, as there is no way that Jenkinson is ready for that responsibility. In a couple of years maybe, but not yet. A rb who can also cover cb would be ideal. As for the striker issue, I really hope we get some resolution on this soon. If Van Persie goes, I can't help but feel we'll need another striker, given that we really can't rely on Chamakh for goals. I'd love, in an ideal world, someone like Llorente, but I can't see that happening while VP is still here. I know people think we need another defensive midfielder and that's probably correct, but I'd be more worried about the right back and striking positions first.
If I had to pick I would go with... 1. Nuri Sahin - Such a class act. 2 Seasons ago voted best player in the Bundesliga. We dont know when Wilshere will return to full fitness and Roiscky & Diaby are likley to pick up injuries. I would be extremely happy if this signing happens. But to put the icing on the cake and 'complete' the squad... 2. Versatile defender that can play Cb and Fullback. Preferably someone to give us a little more physicality at the back. - If I could choose I would go with Matt Hummels. I think Kos/Mert are pretty good - just not 'Top Class'. Kos lacks strength and positionining while Mertesacker is rather slow. A World Class defender would really propel us to tghe next level. Sell - Bendtner, Squillaci, Almunia, Park. I think we need a Centre Back who can also play Right Back effectively (or a Right Back who can play Centre Back effectively). That way when Sagna returns we wont have 3 players vying for 1 place. Would also help manage the wage bill. The only problem is finding someone who can play both positions, is available and doesn't cost a bomb. Simple
I don't think we will be buying any new CB's. We have Vermaelen, Kosh, Mertesacker, Djoure, and Bartley's been promoted to first team. I think Wenger's looking to get a DMF to give more protection to the back four rather than buying new CB's. plus, Wenger isn't the type of manager to buy a new player when an area is covered in depth, sure, some fans might prefer a better name than Djoure, but Wenger has faith in Djoure so he sees him as adequate cover.
That I would agree with though. It's like playing Vermaelen at LB, he can do a job, but his best position is at CB
