Great video too http://www.footballfriendsonline.co...swinkel-the-best-name-in-football-video.html? ....and here's real food for thought http://hereisthecity.com/2013/03/24...of-van-wolfswinkel-doesnt-mean-they-wont-co/?
See, this annoys me intensely every time I see it. When will they learn that it is so much harder to score goals in the EPL, compared to the SPL (one horse race, ffs!) and the Portuguese Prieira Liga (two horse race this year, with Sporting having a bad time of it).
i'd be very surprised if we went back for Hooper. better players are available on the continent for less than Celtic wanted for him. and he has hardly set the SPL alight in the last three months.
Doubt we'll go for Hooper now, I think the Kamra gamble has probably paid off and we'll try to keep him, and Becchio hasn't had much of a look-in yet, so I expect our 4 strikers next season to be Wee Willy Wolfs Penis, Holt, Kamara & Becchio. Jackson and Martin to leave.
I tend to agree with Cromer on this. Celtic is so dominant in the SPL that it's a bit like ManUtd playing in the Championship. 5m is still a lot if he flops in the PL. I think we have enough striking power in RVW, GH, KK and LB.
At £5m, I wouldn't say no, but other areas take priority. Signing Garrido (or an equivalent/better) LB must be first priority, then I'd like to see a significant signing at DM. Beyond that, a CB and LW wouldn't go amiss, then perhaps an attacking midfielder unless Butterfield is to play a greater role, and a back-up LB, although Whittaker is an option there. Once we've plugged the gaps in our squad and introduced competition where it's definitely needed, if there's £5m left for Hooper I wouldn't say no.
I know who I would look at for LB, Ben Davies from swansea. Neil Taylor will return in the summer and Davies has had a brilliant season and now he's playing 1st team he won't want to stop. Celtic will settle for 5 mil this summer for Hooper, and I would imagine we will return for him. We can't rest on our laurels for next season. our strike force has been dire and what makes people think it will change just cause of the addition of RvW? Would you rather have... RvW, Holt, Becchio, Kamara & Jackson or RvW, Hooper, Weimann, Holt & Becchio?
Well, I'd rather have the best possible strike force we can get, but I have to agree with DH - there are other areas we need to strengthen, and I think the 4 strikers we are likely to go with are good enough, whereas we are desperately short of quality in some areas. And Garrido won't be cheap, if we can do the deal.
I think we'll do better than Hooper. As far as Weimann goes : http://www.footballtransfertavern.c...ransferTavern (The Transfer Tavern Home Page)
