Hi Gas members. Saints fan here. The discussion has come up yet again about Rickie's penalty record. Saints have been blessed with several great penalty takers over the years [some might have said at one point, how else are they going to score..? ], and as he's gone off to his first and last club [with our blessings, sob..] I thought I'd better gather some info on the one and only missing significant stat. How many penalties has he taken and scored in his career overall..? Now I know he missed one for you against Leicester City, in 2009, but how many did he take and score for Bristol Rovers to add to his magnificent 34/34 for Saints. FWIW, I'll also be asking the other club forums where he played, Rochdale for example. Can you believe there is no stat out there showing off his total penalty record..? I don't expect it to beat the master - Mr Le Tissier's 47/48, but it should get close. Thanks for any info you can come up with. Cheers TSS.

pens scored for rovers... 27th mar 2007 lambert scored a pen vs stockport in a 2-1 win. 14th aug 2007 lambert scored a pen vs palace in a pen shoot out. 17th nov 2007 lambert scored a pen vs millwall in a 2-1 win. 27th nov 2007 lambert scored a pen vs orient in a 3-3 fa cup draw. 27th nov 2007 lambert scored a pen vs orient in the pen shoot out. 26th dec 2007 lambert scored a pen vs luton in a 1-1 draw. 22nd jan 2008 lambert scored a pen vs fulham in a pen shoot out. 2nd feb 2008 lambert scored a pen vs port vale in a 3-2 win. 16th aug 2008 lambert scored a pen vs brighton in a 1-1 draw. 20th sept 2008 lambert scored a pen vs yeovil in a 2-2 draw. 10th mar 2009 lambert scored a pen vs hereford in a 3-0 win. 28th mar 2009 lambert scored a pen vs stockport in a 2-0 win. 18th apr 2009 lambert scored a pen vs millwall in a 4-2 win. pens missed for rovers... 21st feb 2009 lambert missed a pen vs leicester in a 1-0 loss. scored 13 from 14 pens if you count pen shoot outs. if you dont count pen shoot outs then its 10 from 11 pens. hope this helps
That Leicester game was a frustrating one because we couldn't break them down after the penalty miss, despite them having 10 men. Unusually Lambert didn't take this penalty powerfully. It was a bit of a tame low effort saved to his right by Mark Bunn. Jack Hobbs was the man sent off for Leicester for the foul on Darryl Duffy which led to the spot-kick, while Matt Fryatt got the goal, stabbing in from the edge of the six-yard box midway through the first half.

Just to update you, we have evidence that Rickie missed for Rochdale, so we're at 47/49 at the moment. I haven't yet asked the good people of Macclesfield or any others.
no probs i may be able to dig a bit deeper and find out his record with his previous clubs if you have no joy from elsewhere. taking lambert from us for basically peanuts was 1 major factor for where we are now. poor signings, bad managers and a clueless board are other major factors. you bring through good youngsters, maybe you can send some our way on loan to help us get back in the football league!
lambert only missed 2 pens in his whole career. 1 was for us as we know about above which was against leicester. after some digging, i found out when he missed his pen for rochdale. and guess what? it was against us 29th april 2006 rochdale 2 rovers 0 - 6th paragraph http://www.rochdaleonline.co.uk/new...c-news/11110/home-win-secures-safety-for-dale he scored a pen that game too.
