http://www.player.saintsfc.co.uk/latest-news/article/3592558 It's a SaintsPlayer exclusive, so for those of you without it and who would like to know, a synopsis is below. Moment of the Year: England vs Scotland - Scoring the winning goal and playing at Wembley for England First England goal was my greatest moment I finally got to live my dream I always thought I could do it, even at Rochdale and Macclesfield I had very big doubts at stages of my career though I absolutely thrived on being in facilities like that of Southampton It's completely different to any other club I've played for Whatever you wanted to do, people would help you Every single facility was there I was like a kid in a sweet shop I loved every moment and took advantage of all the assistance of club staff I don't mention fatherhood enough It was a large part of me changing my mental state I knew I wasn't just playing for me, but for my children Money wise, you try to earn enough for them I'm not all about money, but you have to think of that for their future I had my questions and worries when Nigel Adkins was sacked I always give my manager 100%, regardless of who he is or what his philosophy is It wasn't hard at all to do that, with the type of character that came in I know that Mauricio knows what he is talking about Early on, we all knew he was on to something Scoring against Liverpool was a weird one for me It was a dream to score against them, but it wasn't a clean kick to say the least I didn't really feel like going mad because of the goal itself If I had rocketed one in, you'd have seen a different type of celebration I didn't really feel bad about scoring against my childhood team I don't feel like that anymore about Liverpool I support Southampton more than Liverpool now to be honest I'm a Saints fan more than Liverpool I've fallen in love with the club, and I will always be a Southampton fan I'll always be fond of Liverpool, but my love is for Southampton I can't say enough how important this pre-season was for us The difference for us was so clear, so clear to see It was intense, but quite enjoyable If it wasn't enjoyable, I'd tell you But going to Spain was really enjoyable Of course there's a few days where I had a little moan, but it's all good now A good season for us is to finish in the top 8 Next season we want to push on even higher There's still a chance to get the top six though We've had a little dip, but we have played some good teams Now we need to show people we can do it again, which we can We've played Liverpool, Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal away It's only really Man City out of the top sides we haven't played away I'm desperate for a cup run I absolutely love the FA Cup, I'm desperate to play in it Southampton need to be looking at winning the FA Cup this season This is our best chance in years of winning it, and absolutely the best chance of my lifetime We have a very good chance and need to take a serious approach towards it this year, which I am sure the manager will do DTLW
I hope we do take the Fa cup seriously. Other than that shows how much of a top bloke he is and how much he loves it here. Still think he might retire here.
