West Ham have offered Southampton 8m for Lambert. Lambert apparently earns about £35K a week. What do you think? Worth a punt? Spam reckon they will double his wages to about £65K but does he really want to play Championship football next season?
Be interesting to know what West Ham fans make of it. On the one hand I'm sure they'll be happy about signing the player, on the other if bfs is allowed to spend that money on a player it means he's going to be around for the foreseeable future.
Remember that season the spammers looked ****ed. Then they signed Kitson and Hartson, they banged in the goals and they survived by about two points. If this went through him and a fit Carroll could do the same. I hope not like.
I'm not suggesting we pay him £65k a week but we could offer say £45K and Premiership football. Lets be honest, if he's even considering leaving Soton he can do a lot better than West Ham.
This is what I don't get. It's a World Cup year and he's in the England manager's plans whilst playing for So'ton. Why the **** would he want to leave a safe side in the top half of the league where he's playing regularly to go and get into a relegation scrap that could end his chances of playing in the World Cup. BFS could easily end up getting sacked in a months time and the new manager prefer to play Carroll and Vaz Te together rather than Lambert. EDIT: Obviously I know "money", but is Lambert that kind of player?
I've no idea but if anyone should think of a big payday its him. Years of lower league football, I really couldnt blame him if he takes the cash.
I agree but is he getting enough game time. http://www.mirror.co.uk/vauxhall/rickie-lambert-transfer-rumours-southampton-2994081
This is the club who spunked nearly £5m on Kevin Nolan when they'd just been relegated to the Championship. It's what they do.
You know if I was them, I'd go for Grant Holt. He's the perfect 'back-up' target man who might not expect to play every week and would be happy as Carroll stand-in but is also bloody decent in the mean time. Also Wigan would almost certainly get rid for £500k. Piece o' piss this football management lark.
If you could afford Lambert you wouldn't go for Holt though would you. Holt's got 2 in 11 in the Championship compared to Lambert's 6 in 18 in the Premier League this season. As much as it seems like a ridiculous amount of money, if he kept them up, it would be worth it.
