What got most people (me included) most excited was Murray's saying that there was a preferred bidder, price was not a problem and the sale should go through in February. He also told us that Roland was keeping in touch him with every step of the way but he couldn't say any more because of NDA's. Maybe if CARD threaten to have a protest Murray will come out and update us with what's going on. If Murray hadn't said what he did I'd just have thought "Oh there goes Rick crying wolf again".
Fans are being played from all sides. I'm sick of it. Protests should start again straight away. Plan a big one for the next home game after Tuesday, then tell Murray it won't be called off unless he updates us BEFORE the protest date. And when he does so, go ahead with the protest anyway - because he is just lying to us.
Takeovers aren't a quick affair so I don't think protests trying to force Murrays hand for a bit of communication is the way forward. It may well be the potential new owners that are wishing to withhold any news going public right now.. we just have to be patient. People will believe what they want to believe, I'm choosing to remain sceptical until an official story is published, ignoring the various 'ITK' sources on this. Makes it easier to digest in truth.
Agree with Super here - if people want to go overpoard about statements from Mr Everitt, that's their concern. He isn't actually arranging the takeover so anything he reports back is logically coming at second or third hand. There is little point in getting so wound up when his timetable turns out to be wrong. We all want to be getting the news as son as posible (I'm spending way too much time on Charlton fórums lately) but the buyers have no obligation to keep us informed so the best way to stay sane is to take a pinch of salt every time a new 'done deal' is announced as a rumour, but not on the OS. Don't keep shooting the Messenger.
In theory we should turn a deaf ear to all the ITK stuff but easier said than done when you're desperate for Charlton to become a Roland-free area.
Duchatelet is on to a nice little scam here. String the fans along with take-over speculation, they won't rock the boat if they think I'm selling... Promotion or not, there will be no signings in the summer 'because he's selling' and guess what? No signings next January for the same reason. Well I've just reached the end of my bit of string. Four years of being mugged off is more than enough. The old scrote doesn't get one more penny off me. I'm out.
But he's losing a million a month.. thats where I struggle to interpret this as a scam. The prat that he is, he's probably overshooting his valuation, but thats for the buyers to being him back to reality.
Dave White hits the nail on the head though. Why would you buy the club now for silly money? We lose at least £750,000 every month (DW], why not let Duchatelet suck up the losses for the rest of this season, then have a fresh start in the summer?
He owns many business's, I am sure he has used us as some sort of tax dodge. Consequently he can hold out for more than is reasonable.
Classic Murray misdirection with the sole intention of getting the other suitors to put in their own bid, sooner rather than later. The little chat he had with staff, knowing full well that it would be reported back, was nothing more than a fishing trip.
Rick has posted that he's sticking with "done deal". A brave man. Whether or not anyone believes him is another matter.
