That sound you can hear over on Charlton Life today is a loud stampede for the toilet. Everitt the Horse Whisperer now claiming the “takeover” has hit major problems.
Staggering that some fans give this BS Merchant the time of day ....the “takeover” was imminent 3 days ago when there were VOTV’s that needed selling ....
The best humour always contains an element of truth. That Tweet from Everitt with the white smoke coming out of the chimney has now morphed to “I didn’t have all the information”. Funny that.
He should be man enough to take responsibility for wrongly raising people's hopes, and apologise. All Charlton forums should automatically ban the use of the word "source". That's twice he's done it now, he must call it a day.
“I don’t and never have claimed to have the full picture” He posted that within 5 mins of Angel Dust on ITTV saying the “imminent takeover” was anything but.
My boss man is down in London this week to conclude some business with the higher ups there. The entire time these kind of meetings have been booked, as well as not changed, always led me to believe nothing was imminent. The fact they’ve heard nothing also served as a red flag for me. Football is probably one of the most incestuous industries in the UK, if not the world. You can’t keep a secret for long, and again, there’s a lot of people who were none the wiser to these kind of rumours until I asked the question.
As you correctly said about a previous poster, the worst part about this sort of manipulative behaviour is that it gets up the hopes of decent fans.
It's my main gripe. If I hear something I'll take it to PM then if it starts coming out elsewhere I'll bring it to the forum. There's always 'Wily old foxes' in both football and the media, obviously with agendas. It's your responsibility to decipher whats true and whats not if taking it public. This isn't meant to sound self righteous, but always take anything with a pinch of salt until there are multiple sources. Then you have to read between the lines whether the multiple sources are in fact coming from the same person. If that makes sense.
“No question now that it (his story...) turned out to be PREMATURE” - Rick Everitt on CL now. Is that an apology ?
He runs a rag, when profiting from these stories when you haven't done your due diligence (ba bum Ching), you should write a rebuttal with apology. Journalistic integrity. I had my arse handed to me when at The Sun (boo hiss) about running with a story about Figo moving to the Middle East (he joined Inter a few days later).
He (Everitt) is too arrogant to apologise. The "no question I was premature" is as good as you will get. Fans should now boycott VOTV in my opinion. Interested in @DickPlumb take on this, as he has been a fan of RE in the past.
Maybe me and Steve should write a fanzine on the ''good ol' days'' at CAFC. There are more tales than kicking off about the lack of free booze.
I feel it necessary to say I'm not celebrating this non story. That's not my intention. I'm as upset as all CAFC fans that this was a non story. I hoped he knew something that was so protected from within, that externally no one had the jump on the story. We should now be raising questions about what's next for CAFC. PE is out from what I know - unless something drastically changes (he always wants to be in the loop). This is because of his commitments elsewhere rather than ''not having finances''. Which was what was alluded too Anyway, hitting the Valley now.
Rick Everitt appears to have let Charlton fans down big-time. Whatever his reasons, be they honourable or self-serving, he has lost a great deal of trust and probably respect. But however foolishly or arrogantly he has behaved, whether he was misled himself or misled others concerning this 'takeover' in my opinion RE is not the enemy of Charlton Athletic. Roland Duchatelet is the enemy. He would be enjoying the humiliation of RE, except that he doesn't care one way or the other. This whole business is another kick in the head for every fan who cares about our Club, and has that bond used to hurt us again and again.
