Sky are saying we are interested along with QPR

Leeds and Queens Park Rangers have been linked with a move for Richie Wellens, whose short-term contract at Doncaster Rovers has expired. However, Doncaster are prepared to offer a deal 'beyond our usual parameters' in a bid to persuade the experienced midfielder to stay.

I so hope this isn't true, seriously is this guy any better than Norris, Green, Austin, Tonge and Brown?

The same as above, just a little slower. He will be free to bring in and that will make the difference.

This is what I just said on the January Transfer Window thread (didn't realise there was a specific one for him)

"If we didn't already have so many ageing midfielders I would be pretty happy with this in truth. He is actually a pretty good player at this level and not far off what we need in our team/squad, we are also quite short of quality in the centre as well imo. Sadly, we already have Tonge, Norris, Brown and Green so I wouldn't like us to sign anymore midfielders until they are off the books unless they were young exciting prospects at least."

I think he is better than what we already have there. Realistically I think we only have 3 midfielders that are good enough to play in this league. That being Mowatt, Austin and Murphy. I'm not even completely sold on Murphy and Austin struggles with simple passes at times and keeping possession, then throw in the fact that Mowatt is so inexperienced and has been injured a little recently, you can then see the need for another midfielder. I think the most important thing is to get these players off our books now or at the end of the season, this will help us so much more.

I wouldn't want us to waste a wage on him unless we could get rid of any three from Brown, Norris, Green, Tonge - Much more pressing positions but agree, central midfield is weak, Austin and Murphy not the players I was hoping they would turn out to be.
