    Richie Benaud the great Australian has played his final innings. Passed away in Sydney hospice, Had the pleasure of talking to him at a book signing, a real gent with time for people particularly those that loved cricket. Great man great player RIP

    Richie Benaud and John Arlott....the best.
    When you listened to them it was summer, birds sang, ball hit bat...all was well.
    Wordsmiths in their different ways. One sparing, precise and succinct; the other rich,
    mellifluous...painting pictures with words.
    Great men in their different ways........gentle men.

    Richie Benaud - one of the all time greats. Voice of cricket throughout my youth - calm, authoritative, iconic. RIP.
