With all the reported bids in for midfielders (Gibson, Larsson, Gardner) aswell as the talk of Brucie wanting to bring in N'Zogbia.

Seems as though if all the deals come off we won't have to play Richardson all over the shop like last season and he can go back and focus on playing left back.

People have there opinions but I think he is the best left back at the club but I like full backs who like to attack at every oppertunity and get down the wing on the overlap.

This works for me and Bardo can go to right back.

Left back has been a problem since Bruce arrived.

Richardson didnt set the world on fire when he was put there at the start of last season but with ur current budget it would be the cheap option instead of buying a new left-back as they cost a bomb for a decent one.

Although when he was moved upfront at Christmas, he did prove useful as he bagged 4 goals so even though he has his doubters he is invaluable to our squad.

I quite like Richardson at LB and I think if we said we wanted an attacking LB and a Richardson type from another club was touted we would all be happy.

What he said, if he were any good, then the left back spot would have been his, He's had two years to make it his own but hasn't done it. We need a recognised left back bringing in, whose first job is to defend then get forward as a secondry consideration not a player who is good at getting forward (when he can be arsed) but is ****e at defending. I can see us having the usual debate around Xmas about needing a decent left back, if we don't get someone in now. I'm sorry but for me Rico isn't it the answer to our left back problem.

    What he said! <ok>

I sometimes start to doubt my own eyes when I see the pro Richardson comments. (And no this isn't a personal dig at anyone, I stand by the premise everyone is allowed an opinion)
Every time and I mean every time I have seen him at LB he has been absolute ****e.
It would be interesting to see the stats of how many times he has conceded unnecessary freekicks there. Half the time I think I could get past him carrying half a century of beer.
As for his going forward that was sporadic at best, with very little end product. (Usually meaning he lost the ball in their half then stood and watched as others dashed back to cover his position.)

aye, can't argue with any of those statements, I just don't rate him (bit like murphy, score a goal or two and that justifies your place here for another year). People say he can play anywhere, but for me his best position would be at another club.

Look lads RICHARDSON IS NOT AN EFFING LEFT BACK
SAF failed to convert him to a LB and so has Bruce in 2 seasons lets forget about this crap idea and buy in a LB FFS.
Poolie stop giving Brucey ideas mate.

Sorry mate must disagree, more often than not looks disinterested and not up for it. btw read my comment above 'I just don't rate him (bit like murphy, score a goal or two and that justifies your place here for another year)' still applies.

    What he said <ok>
    ....and what he said! <ok>

There is no way on this Gods earth that Richardson is a Left Back. I'd rather he was left back in the dressing room, than play that position again! Even Ferdinand played better in that positon last season when Bardo was out injured.

Keyring is a midfielder, or a withdrawn CF, not as LB. That's his best position & for me his 4 goals b4 injury proved how effective he is. If he leaves he'll go to a lesser team & be a goal machine & we'll wonder why he didn't do it for us. Quite simply, we're wasting him playing him badly out of position.

I don't know if any of you lads were at Villa away last season but Richardson played Lb and bardo played Rb. It's the most balanced the back 4 looked all season. I am a big fan of Bardo at Rb, with that in mind Richardson is the best man for Lb, I personally cannot think of anyone better we could attract and sign anyway.

Come on vegas one game doesn't mean they are the best thing since sliced bread mate, Bardo at RB is fine at LB okay but even he was getting found out towards the end of the season.

Reminds me how Whitehead used divide our fans.

I always thought Whitehead was ****.

I recall one game when he was misplacing every pass even the backwards ones, I got up and shouted "Get yer finger out Whitehead!"
This big guy in front stood up and said "Shut the **** up at least he's trying!"

We all ended up laughing when I responded with "Aye! very!"

True but I did not say they were the best thing since sliced bread. They are the best we can hope for. Bardo stays fit and is good going forward and defending. Richardson does not get beat often 1 on 1 because of his pace, he is good going forward. He is just suspect positionally. Can someone tell mr who else we could get who is better??

Any decent LB mate there are plenty out there and fair enough you didn't say about the bread my mistake.
Tell me why they are the best we can hope for?
If SB does not get in a LB this season then that is yet another load of fans on his back from day one, as cover Richardson is adequate at best and on a bad day poor. He is not as fast as you reckon he was getting skinned left right and centre when he was LB which is why a lot, myself included wanted him back to either midfield where he is decent or on the bench. As I said SAF tried and failed to get him to play LB and he is an excellent manager in an excellent team so what hope do we have 4 years on. I'm not saying get shot of him as he is a very good squad player but only at LB if our new signing (hopefully) and Bardo are crocked then we will have no choice.
