Hopefully I can play again next season but will have a rest now. ‘I need some time off, it’s been a disappointing season in terms of where we finished. Dunne said: ‘We just feel disappointed. We’ve not been up to it for most of the season. We’ve felt that things have not gone our way and Sunday was a let down. Do yourself a favour, give up with a modicum of dignity, stop begging for scraps. "There was a party atmosphere and that made it difficult" . I have never been short of respect for Dunne, but that's given it a massive dent. Might as well have said 'They had some pride and wanted to show it to their fans. We didn't, and that made it difficult". I think our team has done itself plenty of justice this season. They are what the table says.
Think it depends who we have left - if its just youngsters then someone we his experience would be an asset.
There should always be some room for hope. Definitely not the wrong sort. But maybe it is time to say goodbye. Trust the management to make the right call, whatever that might be.
I don't think we can afford to keep two old boys in Hill and Dunne but we need a squad of players and some experience for the long Championship season and these two seniors generally did OK in 2014/15. The lack of continuity in our squad over the last few years has also been a problem that we need to put right. Of the two, I'd favour keeping Dunne. At CB, we'd then have Onuoha, Dunne, Caulker (if not sold) and a younger option (Donaldson, if deemed up to it).
Agree. Looks like he's past it. I think if we are to keep an experienced defender we have one in Ned now. He's the only one in our back 4 I'd really want to stay. Caulker, Yun and Traore possibly as they are all still young.
I think he could just about cope another year with us considering the opposition as long as a replacement was looked for for next year. I don't see us able to have him and Clint in our squad so would prefer Clint in a player/coach roll for this season then a full time coaching roll from next season. We'd know what we were getting and would have a year to plan for a suitable replacement, knowing he was hanging his boots up at the end of the season. Until then his on and off the field contributions would be benificial
It's a long season with a lot of games, I would guess that we will get some younger players in and having players like Dunne around will help develop them, without squad number restrictions I'd be happy enough to have him on a one year deal as long as it was on fairly low wages, he can come on late to steady the ship in a few of those tight games. Think Clint will be in some player/coach role next season which I think would suite everyone as long as the wages were right.
He's definitely the right sort, so we should keep him and get him to work a bit harder on improving his velocity. Remember the goal he scored against Burnley? He could do that again if given the chance.
Love Clint. But he's finished as a player. In fact, was finished last season. Make him coach though. Good sort
