There are reports coming out of Holland that Newcastle are interested in Groningen’s 17 year-old striker Richairo Zivkovic.

Richairo is of Serbian and Curacaoan descent, and he has already played for the Dutch U19 side and is currently at FC Groningen where he’s played 24 times with five goals.

He made his senior league debut for FC Groningen in December of 2012, when he was just 16 years (and three months) old, and came on as a late substitute in the 2-0 win over Heracles.

Zivkovic could be one of the top youngsters that Newcastle are always looking to bring into the club, and the reports say that Newcastle have been watching this player in the Eredivisie this season.

Over the last year Newcastle have signed youngsters like Kevin Mbabu from Servette, who has played for all the Swiss Youth sides through U19 level, and Olivier Kemen from Metz who has played for the French U17 side.

It is one of Newcastle’s strategies to bring in youngsters who can be developed on Tyneside to become top players.

However, Newcastle have not been too successful in this over the last six years or so, and the club have very little to show for their efforts.

This youngster seems to be top notch, with other Premier League clubs like Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City also said to be interested in the player.

He'll head to Ajax, then somewhere with more money than us. The days of any club outside of the big few "unearthing" a gem from somewhere other than their own academy are gone. City can simply buy him, loan him back and pay all of his wages whilst on loan. If he's then any good, they'll use him. If he doesn't make it, on to the scrap heap you go, NEXT.

Sometimes they overlook players though. City with Boateng and Weiss, Chelsea with De Bruyne, United with Pogba, Diouf, and obertan..... Okay yeah that last one was a joke. <party>

Poor old Overan, nobody loves him.

Can't do his confidence much good.

Free transfer to Sunderland do you think?
