Newcastle United are reportedly eyeing up a move for Ajax right-back Ricardo van Rhijn this summer as a replacement for Mathieu Debuchy.

The Premier League side expect to lose Debuchy to Arsenal in the coming months after the Gunners had a £7.9million bid accepted by Newcastle.

After recruiting Siem de Jong from Ajax this week, Newcastle are now weighing up a move for Van Rhijn, according to the Evening Chronicle.

However, the publication says that the Magpies may have to battle it out with Chelsea and Everton for the right-back – with both sides having kept an eye on the player over the past 12 months.

Should Newcastle lose out on Van Rhijn, the club may go in for Feyenoord’s Daryl Janmaat as the Dutch international has just a year left on his current contract with the Rotterdam outfit.

Sorry, I just can't see NUFC accepting 7.9m for an true international FB, unless of course we are getting someone in part exchange. ( Jenkinson or Campbell possibly )

I could see Joel Campbell coming in on a loan as part of the MD deal.
    It would suit all parties.
Pards can then get Cisse fit so he can be sold in January buying a bit of time at little to no outlay.

Van Rhijn has torn his hamstring in training last week and may be out until October so I can't see this one happening. Unless Mike decides it's an opportunity to reduce the fee of course.
