Ipswich manager Paul Jewell has taken former Tottenham and Portsmouth defender Ricardo Rocha on trial. The 33-year-old, who became a free agent following Pompey's relegation at the end of last season, will spend an initial week at Portman Road. Jewell told the club's official website: "Ricardo is here for the week and we'll take it from there." Rocha, who has made six appearances for Portugal, started his career at Braga and in 2002 joined Benfica, where he played Champions League football. Tottenham paid £3million for him in 2007, but he found a regular first-team slot hard to come by at White Hart Lane and in 2010 he moved on to Portsmouth. **************************************************************************************************** Oh Boy, couldn't we do with him ?
Apparently he told someone (via twitter) that he would have stayed, within the current budget and someone else said that Appy didn't want him as his "legs have gone". I was at the last few games last season and he looked fine and able. He would have been so influential if he'd stayed. We never get told the truth really, even if Appy is the most honest Manager we've had, we are still never going to know.
♫ We want Ricard Rocha, say we want Ricardo Rocha! ♫ He was fantastic last season, pace isn't everything ..
