http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2175052/Steve-Bruce-wants-Ricardo-Fuller.html Sorted if true, he'd do a right job for us. From this daily mail source again. The only thing they're good for.
Since we rejected a £500k bid from Leicester in April or May, and all Koren's agent has since done is make one comment about being happy to join Reading I suspect the clause is either bollocks or he's not interested.
Possibly the reason for the new contract talks? I wonder if we'll go in for Liam Lawrence too - ex-Stoke XI? Wonder if Bruce has noticed Dudgeon's long throw?
New contract talks I would expect to be because he's only got a year left on his contract and he's not the type of player you want getting down to 6 months left. Same should go for Rosenior as well. The others with only 1 year left need to earn their new deals still (Cooper, Cairney, Simpson, McKenna, and McShane, obviously Dawson but he's only just got his deal so we won't be extending that this summer).
Well listening to the Bruce post Ferriby match interview with Burnsie, he didn't seem to be looking to off load Robbie Koren - far from it - he said RK was happy here and that he was looking to extend his current contract which expires in 12 months time. As for Reading (or Leicester - not a cat in hells chance) offering £500k/£750k they have got to be kidding me.
Haven't seen much of Fuller for a while. 18 months ago, I'd have snapped their arm off for him. Not sure now. Won't get too excited until a) he's signed and b) I've seen what shape he's in.
So that'd be Fuller, Proschwitz, Fryatt, McLean AND Simpson all vying for a starting place.I can't see it happening to be honest... which means it probably will but at least 1 of them would have to be dissapointed every week and I have a horrible feeling it'd be Mr Fryatt.
Thing that concerns me is Fullers reputation for causing trouble in the dressing room. They're a tight bunch at City, I'd hate to see that ruined.
Bruce won't sign Fuller and Proschwitz and not play them. So it would be bad news for the old guard. I can't help but think its a case of 2+2 = 5 The mail is usually reliable, but I find it strange that someone is linking us to an ex-Stoke free agent on the day we have had it confirmed by Bruce we are in for another ex-Stoke free agent. Plus its announced we are negotiating with Koren; well that has to be because we are worried by Leicester's bid. It can't just be a routine contract extention. I don't know. I will probably be proven wrong, but both of these stories feel like silly season guesswork.
We've got 4 decent strikers though (including Proschwitz). You'd think we'd look at getting a little bit of cover at the back and outwide before we start worrying about having a 5th senior striker.
Forget reputation he slapped his team mate on the pitch and got sent off
we will be bolstering all positions ,. still expect another 4 or so to come in .. we need 25 players . not 11 players or 13 and the rest being kids / out iof favour ... this is for once why we have a manager who realises this and will cater for it ... we have been so lucky with injuries this last two years , we cannot possibly gamble on it again
If he wants to play with one big striker and someone working off him then we don't have 4 good strikers to be happy with, we have a shortage of a big striker and a surplus of smaller ones, and he can't address the issue of being short a big striker for cover/rotation without bringing two in and only playing one at a time.
If it's true, it's probably the end for Cullen and possibly Mclean or Simpson too(unless we cash in on Fryatt). Fuller's a bit of a loose cannon and he didn't start many games last season, but if he's on his game, he can tear teams apart. Imagine being a defender and having Proschwitz and Fuller piling towards you. Scary.
Do you mean this Ricardo Fuller, rather than the one who slaps a team mate? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJyekBPa7Gk
