Pompey have snapped up midfielder Rhys McCabe on loan for the remainder of the season. And Toumani Diagouraga will also be staying at Fratton Park until the summer after his loan was extended. The 21-year-old McCabe has made nine appearances for Sheffield Wednesday during the current campaign, largely as a substitute. Now Richie Barker has identified the ex-Rangers man as somebody to finally solve his central midfield headache. Jack Whatmough was the latest to be employed in the position during the 3-1 defeat at Fleetwood at the weekend. With Diagouraga signing until the end of the campaign from Brentford, McCabe will be given the opportunity to stake his own claim to line-up alongside him. The Scotland under-21 international has netted twice in 32 appearances for the Owls since joining from Rangers in the summer of 2012.
Been really impressed with Toumani - so very pleased - hopefully the young lad can assist too. The league table makes grim reading and we need a win.
Toumani Diagouraga is a breath of fresh air to my mind. He can control midfield, and i'd like to see him playing alongside Simon Ferry, if he is ever going to be fit.
