For any other Rugby fans out there, I'm trying to get something started on the seemingly long dead Rugby board to exchange views, banter, etc about the W.C. Next month.
Nah! I can't see past the Blacks. But the Wallabies could spring a surprise. And Ireland dark horses! I'd love to think we could win it, but, I just don't think we have enough for the big guns. You see the difference when you watch The Blacks play. If they get you under the cosh, they don't let you go. England come away from opposition 22's with nothing far too often.
Going to be a nightmare when the pubs, reliant 99% of the time on football fans, turn over from the football because Hugo and the lads want to see France win 789-0 against Antartica or whichever team they let in to make up the numbers.
There's a lot of big games on Saturday nights at 8.00 pm. Going to be some spectacular fights between Rugby fans and their wives!...
I'll get a bit more interested nearer the time. Can't say I'm too enthused. I'd like to think home advantage might help England, but NZ and SA are far stronger in truth. The Aussies, France. Ireland and Wales won't be pushovers either. I can't see England winning it. The 2003 winners had many match winners - this side doesn't.
I thing Rugby Union is rubbish but my money is on New Zealand winning it, and the next one, and the next one, and t6he next one, and the next one. All of them basically.
I love the game, having played it for many years. If you don't, then fair enough. There is a World Cup starting next month and I thought that there might be other fans out there who'd like to discuss. If you're not interested then just ignore it please. It's just for those that are interested.
It's difficult to argue against The Blacks. England? Who knows with England? If they can escape their group, which won't be easy! They could go to the semis, maybe even the final. But, they have to get past Wales & The Wallabies first!
So should Sam Burgess get picked? My view - yes. He's a man mountain, he's improving and his big game experience and winning mentality (albeit in RL) could be helpful. Better than choosing someone who won't play and sit in the shadows with nothing to contribute.
Huge blow for Wales, agreed. If they lose Webb too, they'll really be at a disadvantage. Burgess? For me, it's too early. His positional play is not good, and if you watch him, he's still not sure of where and what he's supposed to be doing.
As per, 4/5 of Oz, all blacks, South africa, France and England will be the semi-finalists. All blacks favourites, but I reckon they'll choke and England will win it. Very underrated side because they always chuck one game in the 6 nations.
Hope you're right. But, for me, it's the Blacks or The Wallabies. I'd love to see England win it again, and being on home soil will be a big advantage, but I just don't think we're consistent enough - or, TBH, quite good enough!
I agree in part, but as a squad player he can offer a lot. He's not going to play if the first XV are fit, but he's not a bad impact sub and his influence behind the scenes could be invaluable. He has won big prizes in RL. It's like Richie McCaw going the other way. That calibre of player has something to offer without necessarily knowing the nuances of the game.
