Ravel apparently sent back early to West Ham by Slade on Friday - his time (waste of time?) with us is over. No surprise there then. Has Slade got a plan B that doesn't include the likes Ravel and Daehli, because sure as hell, plan A isn't working. Strong rumours doing the rounds that a deal has already been lined up for Daehli and hence is omission from the squad yesterday. A lot of supporters are placing their faith in some January signings by Slade - just hope that faith isn't misplaced.
Hope the rumours about Daehli are not true, the mrs got me the club calendar when in Dublin. Matts is mr May . That said I think a few the players wont be with the club at the end of January.
Might be tongue in cheek Whoops but unfair. Not his squad and has been proven many players are not the quality we thought they were. Get rid of 10 let him get some of his own choices in and judge him next March.
I hope we can get rid of ten. How easy will that be with the reported level of wages they are supposed to be on. That's the problem with the game, very average players who are millionaires.
Only slightly tongue in cheek Blue. I believe a manager's job is to get the best out of the players at his disposal. The new Birmingham manager has done well even though he has come from a non league club. And I've never bought the argument that the players are not Slade's. There should be enough talent in the club to summon up a few decent performances. Slade's answer to the appalling Rotherham performance was to field the same side yesterday with predictable results. To me that is not a judgement that fills me with hope or belief that Slade will turn things around.
Agreed on yesterday's selection trumped only by the ridiculous kit colour. However it is clear we all had over inflated views of the quality and ability of many of the jumble of players in an inbalanced squad. A legacy of many poor signings by Malky and OGS. To use a well worn phrase, you can't polish a turd.
another shi.t. loan again>>.............apart from Rambo coming back I cant think of another one that seemed to work and benefited all parties involved. lets hope the bingo caller isn't our head of recruitment these days...... im not convinced he isn't mind looking at our current patch work quilt of players
"To use a well worn phrase, you can't polish a turd.". there`s a few in Aberdare who would try for a few cans bfb
True Aber and not just Aberdare. A few tins of Stella, a stiff brush and some Kiwi polish and anythings possible.
Agree about the broader principle of loanees aber - don't like them. It's usually just a shop window for aspiring players moving up, or a pension paycheck for those on their way down. The only loanees other than Rambo who've proved good moves for us are definitely Gary O'Neill and probably Kasper Schmeichel for that brief stint from Man City. I think I'm right in saying Shmeichel actually wanted to sign for us before he was hauled back to Eastlands by Eriksson. The likes of Zaha and Ravel were never going to to be committed here - it was just a way back to the "big time".
Thought it might be Malky's fault....what I'd give now for Taylor. Cowie, Campbell, Mutch, Conway, Gestede.
I think when looking at Loanees you need to consider the players motivation. Problem players like Zaha and Ravel will always be a massive gamble. Players who've been in the PL wilderness due to limited 1st team chances and are desperate to kick start their career could well be worth taking a chance on.
I'll go with that in the main whiff. Koumas first spell was magic, but I was never convinced about Routledge at the time and was an obvious glory and money chaser, though he's certainly developed now at Swansea. Bellamy was obviously more home town passion than money.
Conway and Gestede seem to be getting rave reviews at the moment. Rudy has put the ball in the back of the net more times than any of our strikers this year.
Saw Bellers in the Nike shop in St. Davids yesterday. What would we give for the Bellers of 3 or 4 years ago now? He had all the attributes we are sadly lacking.
