I for one will be more than happy to see Bobby return to Fortress Liberty this weekend. A succesful player that shone in our darkest hour and a succesful manager that re-established and entrenched the Swansea way I have always loved us for.
He helped set us on his way and his 3 year plan for getting out of the Championship certainly came true. I just didn't realise he was so clever he had considered the required improvements we would achieve under 2 different managers/strengths to get there!
Yes, no man is bigger than the club, but he played a big part in building the team ethic we now expect and also adore.
Sure, we may gripe at the loyalty speech, but, no bad vibes from me this weekend. That is all water under the bridge after playing Wigan last year.

Good luck, but not against us Mr Martinez.

    ONCE A JACK........

    Swansea 2 - 0 Wigan

He played his part for sure, from the depths up to the championship as player then manager, to be honest I don't think we would ever go up without him leaving, we needed the money from Wigan for him and Scotland to fund players to play our way.

And no matter what people say we needed Sousa to bring the defensive side of things to the fore, his tactics bored me to tears but he gave us back bone!

But again he needed to leave to bring Rodgers in, with him we have found balance in offence and defence, we are a great team we will stay up and Wigan will be beaten by two goals on Saturday !

i would not have called him a great player but a good leader on the pitch..... as a manager he knew what he wanted and how he wanted his team to play the game. He is good man and i hope he goes on to bigger and better things,.....swans 2...v....2 wigan.... he will come prepared.

If we don't beat one of the weakest teams in the Prem on our own patch I fear for us. They've lost N'Zogbia which is good news but we'll need to be at our best to get a result, like every fixture this season. Think is, I think we will be.

    I'm going for 3-0 Swans.

My attitude to Martinez has mellowed from outright hatred to mild indifference.

It's taken me 2 years, but finally I can find it in myself to be appreciative of Martinez's contribution. He devised our way of play and led us barnstorming into the championship. So fair play.

I think an appropriate response on Saturday would be subdued applause at the start, followed by extremely vocal support for Brendan and the boys. Roberto, a love lost. Brendan, you jack ******.

    nah still a judas .

Flynn, jacket and huw jenkins had just as much input as bobby. Dont forget he almost destroyed everything the club had built up.
If paulo sousa had nt have had the tactical nouse to make us hard to beat the swans would have been relegated that season.
The knock on effect of relegation would hhave set us back years.lower crowds and star players going to higher placed clubs would have made sure of that .
He did well for us but also **** on us from a great height. thats got nothing to with money or ambition. the fact he knew he was leaving 2 months before end of seaon showed him to be a snake in the grass .

Dont forget how even when he left he still haunted our club for our players, the same ones he said he would never take.

Hate is a strong word , i dont hate him but i do get pissed off when people forget how close we were to disaster at the club after he ****ed off.

i beleive the whole situation tainted jenkins for a while and im sure it didnt help him when dealing with sousa, who ,if allowed to bring in the top level centre forward he wanted would have got us promotion to the prem league a season earlier IMO.

thanks bobby ,but you and your hair plugs can **** off now, you are dead to me :)

Norway really you are entitled to your opinion, but I strongly disagree with you, and a lot of what you have said about martinez could be levied at Brendan , I mean he took Graham from Watford , lita from boro, probably that cb from them as well, it's just football Martinez was only doing what other managers mostly do and that is take players they know, and take backroom staff that they worked with.

Yea he gets my respect. I have forgiven the whole i'll only leave if i'm asked saga. He has made a huge contribution to this club, and is one of the main reasons we are in the prem.

Sorry, but I think it's a bit sad that people still hold such bitterness and bad feeling.

jager - graham from watford? rodgers was manager there years ago! and probably didnt say "i will never come back for any of my former players"
    lita ? same as above.

i take your point that managers use who they know , but they know alot of players jager!! plus they have scouts also .why did he say something then do the opposite?

i would have more respect for him if he said nothing ,but he always likes to rub up to the media and listen to his own voice .

i understand i may be in a minority but its not a small minority thats for sure. he is the only person who has ever left the swans where i thought he sold us out and fed us on bullshit.

people always move on in football, bobby knew this too so why did he spend so much time feeding the fans a romantic notion of all things swansea and how it was the only place he wanted to be , was it because he had a book coming out ?? he is not a stupid bloke jager and he knew exactly what he was doing when he was romantcising the fans.

anyway, onwards and upwards . Martinez = sneaky lying cheating hairplugging prick :)

i hope for his sake we win on saturday otherwise i can see some drunk giving him major verbal abuse(or more )

Lita was playing for Reading when he was there, Graham was brought to Watford by him I believe and though he never played for Rodgers, he was well known by him.

And the £4m that we got for him, Scotland and the backroom staff funded our way to the premier league, we would have no Sinclair, Dyer or Borini on loan, we would still be in the championship right now IMO

And he like all football players and everyone who works wants to better themselves, they get paid and are employees only, they don't sign their undying love to us, we have that in bundles!

Everytime someone left us we have have progressed on, I am for one thankful for what he did for us, and that includes leaving so we could get promoted, by the way there is an interview on the swans site from him.

Ha ha ha ... no way swimaway !! i am a decent law abiding person, though i shall be at the game on saturday before i return to the land of the sharp shooters and vikings .

there will be alot of people up for this game , a defeat at the hands of bobby hair plug could push a few over the edge IMO . It would be disgraceful if something like that did happen though.

As much as i love my sports i know where to draw the line swimaway :)

Two sides to this as there are to most things in life.

Yes, we should be grateful to RM for introducing us to the "continental" style that we are now somewhat famous for. He more than Flynn, Jackett or anyone else was responsible for that.

Yes, he also crapped on us from a great height. It was not his leaving that hurt so much, it was the way he did it - to me it seemed sneaky and underhanded. We all know the circumstances so I shan't repeat them.

I shall politely applaud him onto the field, due respect shown, then sit back and cheer our lads into hammering his team off the park. The best way for our club to respond to what he did is to ensure that we finish above Wigan this season. When that has been achieved, I for one, will regard the slate as clean.

I can understand where Norway is coming from, the point is this Jager, Rodgers did not rip the heart out of his former club, neither did he sell a lie to the fans, so at the end of the day Bobby brown shoes actions will always divide opinions, as for me, I have moved on, and feel nothing for the guy, though I acknowledge the fact that he has a rightful place in the clubs history, and he did much good work too, so I wont applaud him or boo him either.................

Come on Phil, the only people who bought into that wanted to believe the sun shone out of his arse, the reality is that he was employed by the swans, he did a job, then bettered himself by going to Wigan, am I to think that if someone came in and offered to triple your wages you would stay where you are? Not many people are offered a chance to manage in premier league football, not many people get to play there.

And by the way he wasn't selling a lie, he wrote what he believed at that time , I am sure he regrets that part of his time with us, but nothing more! I am sure you haven't ever said anything you regret in your life mate, have you?

I can tell you that the follickly challenged one spent a lot of time unsettling our players by telling them that in the january 2010 transfer window he wanted to sign them, Williams, Britton, Prately, Rangel , De Vries, and dyer to name a few, but as they found out it was all hot air he never approached the swans as he had promised them he would do, as much as i admire his achievements both on and off the field for the swans, he did a lot to unsettle our players and at the same time telling all that would listen how much he still loved the swans, Huw Jenkins had no clue what was going on behind his back. For me he is a slimy t*at, and i will neither applaud or boo him,

    <ok>

You are minimizing his actions Jager, and while I'm no longer bitter toward him, I'm not going to lay any red carpet for him either, he kept coming in for our players, he took all and sundry from the back room, he took our scouting team, and as far as I'm concerned he wont get an applaud from me, and no I have not made promises to thousands of people in public, so your comparison is not valid, but yes we have all made mistakes, and said things we regret, but if you have made a mistake then you apologize, and work along with that apology, Martinez did neither, he neither apologized to the fans no did he show any regret by his actions when he went for the back room staff and all, and continued after our players, so you can shake his hand if you so wish, but I wont!................
