Stan Collymore has called for the Premier League to create and annual retro day each Boxing Day. Retro kits sold for charity and worn by the players, players numbers 1-11, fans can dress up in old gear, retro programmes, scarves etc. I think it's a great idea in this time where football is becoming less of a working mans' game.
I will go in my normal day to day wear. I hope lots turn up in Army Boots / Docs Butchers Coats / Braces etc Maybe a pitch invasion for extra retro effect.
Is there still someone around that can teach the players how to run like they do in pathe news clips?
Most American sports leagues have "throwback" nights like this. MLB actually had a "throwforward" night too. I could see it happening in the Prem, just without the charity part...
The throwback games are fun, but the "turn ahead the clock" experiment of MLB was dreadful. I don't think they'll ever do that again, and the English are too staid to go for any of that nonsense.
