After reading C'mon refs last post I was wondering if anyone knew what professions some ex players( City or otherwise) went into when they stopped playing,

I know John Hawley went into Antiques.
Justin Whittle and Rob Dewhurst are posties.
    Mark Greaves is a gardner.

Non City players; I think Francis Lee had something to do with bog rolls.

The one that gets me though is Geoff Astle.
England World Cup striker , 1970, and he gets a window cleaning round when he hangs his boots up. The difference in lifestyles and the wages are astronomical.

Imagine Wayne Rooney knocking on your door asking if he could fill his bucket?

I misread that, I was going to reply "A bit? He's very, but why is it an issue?"

    Never mind.

Wiki says he's back coaching with Sunderland:
"Since retiring from professional football Norman has been diagnosed with a rare heart condition called cardiomyopathy. In 2005 he undertook a 190-mile charity walk in aid of the Children's Heart Federation.
In August 2008 Norman returned to Sunderland AFC as Academy Goalkeeping Coach."

I think he does fit showers or something like that which would indeed make him a plumber. I forgot about him.

Jon Whitney became a physio, not sure if he still does but I remember there being a bit in the programme when we played Walsall (where he was at the time) and him saying something along the lines of others would find it funny given the type of player he was, but he just thought it had given him a headstart, and that fixing injuries might go some way to making up for all those he'd inflicted as a player.

David Mail was one of the delivery drivers for Jacksons, and then Sainsbury's when they were still based at Melton. Not sure if he stayed with them when they moved the base from Melton to the main Sainsburys Local distribution centre near Donny though because I moved up here about that time.

Scott Thomson became a goalkeeper coach at Dunfermline, he was still here when I moved up here but he's at Hibs now.
