More or less as I thought. A bit tough on Parish who has not had a first team opportunity (as far as I can recall). Not much trimmed off the wage bill so far but what it doesn't say is which players could go if the right fee offered. I suspect there are 2 or 3 in that category. Otherwise it doesn't leave much spare (outside VT's £25m) to fund wages for new players. Was Lappin signed to the end of this season or the end of next season? We will need a left back for the first game of the new campaign due to Tayls' suspension.

http://www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/news/article/lappin-jan-deal-626459.aspx Would Taylors suspension carry over to the Prem?
I think it does, but wouldn't swear to it. I'm sure there will be a list of players that would be released if a suitable price was offered and a replacement was available. I know everyone has a price but for some MM would be hoping for an offer. With Parish going, we now need a 3rd choice keeper to add to our recruitment. Hope we get a couple of early deals sorted to sooth the nerves. I'm sure a few more will leave before the season starts but only if we have someone coming in first.
Quite a high number of academy players offered contracts. That's good to see as long as their levels of commitment are better than Darcy Blake. I'm sure we will let two or three others go if we receive the right offers. When do we have to submit our squad to the Premier League?
Lots of youngsters given contracts to more than fulfil the home grown commitment. Isn't there a requirement to have at least 8?
When does the transfer window open or what date are we able to try to sign new strikers ?? Does anyone have an answer ??
What is this crap? I've seen other places people saying that the £25 million is not much when it has to cover "The wages of the people we buy plus the hike in wages for the players we have because they will be premier players". Where do people get this from? It is total bollox. The 25 million is for 'buying players', just as the 10 million this season was for buying players. Where do people get this idea that it includes wages etc. It didn't last time so why should it now? Then they tout it on these boards as 'Fact' It's ruccish.
Proposed budgets are only as good they detail they contain. They're pointless and mean nothing unless an explanation of the factors to which they apply are made clear. The whole point of the massive annual Premier League payment to its' constituent members is to meet the financial demands that life up there brings - that includes the relative player wage expectations. Even the lowest finishing clubs will receive far more than a guaranteed £40M next year alone from Sky and overseas TV money as well as sponsorship cash - that'll go a long way if used wisely. Public statements such as "£25M for players" are really as vague as the Sam and Langston tie up. VT probably put it out to demonstrate his ongoing commitment - the devil will be in the detail, but I believe he will push the boat out to ensure (as much as he can) that we stay up.
Xsnaggle Just got back from a few days away to see your somewhat over the top retort to a single line comment I made within a 7 line post. Don't know what I have done to incur such venom other than post a view which I did not "tout as fact". A much more balanced post from Sparkey followed which summed up matters very nicely covering several bases. Hope this isn't the start of some sort of witch hunt as seen on other boards.
