Remember that before kick off today Burton were 8th. This was a solid performance today from the Greens and one they never really looked like losing even if they made a bit of hard work of it at times. The score line flatters Burton and it could have been 4. 5 or even 6 if lady luck had smiled. The meeting for me was just a lot of words which mean nothing yet. Lets see where it leads before getting all greened up about any of it.

If Brent is willing to give 20% of Argyle to the trust will that mean that trust members will own a part of Argyle ?

That means that you will have to show more respect to who they sign.........Wotton for instance...........responsibility as a share owner........the Trust will be asking for donations from us Trust members........thats the only source of money they will have.

Does it really matter what anyone thinks of him as a person so long as he does the biz for us? The sheer anticipation yesterday as he was about to take a free kick from a dangerous area shows he is respected for what he is good at. His leadership qualities on the field are very much needed and could have been what worked yesterday, also the bloke bleeds green.

Something was different yesterday, maybe just maybe we have turned a corner and Wottsy was the final piece of the jigsaw we needed. Player bashing does no one any good, I say give the guy a chance!

Gat-Po..........brass farthings are not legal tender in Camerons bright new country...........or even ha'pennys............so the trick is to..............slip your hand down the back and sides of settees and chairs.............I found nearly a fivers worth once.............it would generally be male pockets that money can slip out of...............seeing women have purses and handbags and that probably wouldn't happen.............of course men have been taking to satchels/handbags in recent years...............why do I think sensible wouldn't have one of those...............or even allow coins to slip down the side of chairs............where Mrs sensible would find it !!!

Was interesting to study the players body language yesterday ,and the good news is that it was all positive. There was a definite cohesion in the team yesterday compared to previous games.Could see no evidence of blaming or arguments and there was much encouragement of each other throughout the game.It was clear that Walton in particular seemed to have increased levels of motivation and concentration, possibly through the presence of Purse and Wotton and needing to up his game and lo and behold he had his best game for quite a while. It was clear yesterday that the players were enjoying the game ok we were winning but it was a positive display in terms of a team gelling (at last!).Off yesterdays performance Wotton was definitely a positive presence he looked commanding was generally in the right place at the right time and had that look of a veteran at the front.Purse as before stays calm, knows what he is doing and does the business. So right now we have two very experienced old pros who have the ability to hold it together an spur on others,of course the question remains who will be captain from now on?

I personally think Wotton has been brought back to appease the fans and not for his skills on the pitch, as I stated on another thread in my opinion he was past his sell buy date before he even left us, and as for who should wear the captains armband in my opinion it is the player out on the pitch who deserves it most that should wear it and if that turns out to be Wotton then so be it but I dont think he should be automatically given it because he is the fans favourite player !

I cannot see Wotton being made Captain and indeed, there is absolutely no need for him to be. He will lead anyway whether in possession of an armband or not as that is his way. I don't agree that at this level he is past anything. He was out of his class in the Championship but no worse or better a player than he had been before. He did well enough yesterday in my opinion. Nothing startling but everything he needed to do and he did it quite well. He wasn't the star of the show in the promotion teams as a performer but again was good enough to keep his place. What he brought then was spirit and fight on the field. No idea what went on off the field but I saw him out and about a couple of times with a group of team mates and they all seemed to get on well enough. I was waiting for his first pass to go astray yesterday and for the cries of "same old Wotton" to be heard around me but he didn't do much wrong so there will be time enough for that when we aren't winning one I suspect. If, and at the moment it is only that, he continues to play and to cajole around him like yesterday then this will be a good signing for a player rather than an Argyle Icon who has come home. I'm more interested in him as the former rather than later.

    Miscellaneous points:

    1) I believe the shares on offer will be preference shares - that sounds good - and indeed there are financial advantages to owning preference shares rather than ordinary shares. However, they are likely to be secondary to ordinary shares in the key issue of voting control of the club. Personally, I don't see a problem with that - it's standard practice to use preference shares this way, presumably the money raised by selling them will go into the club and together with the advisory board, they will cement the fans' place at the table, even if in the end Brent retains the ultimate control over his purchase, which is not unreasonable. However, it needs to be understood.

    2) Good teams are said to have 11 captains. If you watch the highlights clip, you'll see Purse ripping shreds out of however it was that allowed the ball to be headed back from the dead-ball line to concede the Burton goal when it would have been easier to put ball & Burton player into the away fans' section. I didn't see him ask Walton's permission before he let rip! Neither is good captaincy about being the best player on the field - it's about getting the most out of the team as a unit, which occurs as much off the field as on. I certainly don't know enough about the character & intellect of the various candidates to say who it should be. Hopefully somebody at the club does!

    3) I may be delusional but I do feel a corner has been turned this week in the relationship with the fans, new signings - including Wotton who I think is an inspirational figure whatever anyone else says - a good performance and result on the field with another home game to come [albeit a tough one]. I may be proved wrong, we'll see. NB I don't think the new flag is a significant development - indeed last time I saw one at Home Park, it only emphasised the empty spaces in the ground over which the flag had trouble moving!
