Thought I'd post this on here as well as elsewhere. I took a look through the Premiership stats for last year. There were 17 teams (obviously) who were not ManC/ManU/Arsenal Out of them, the following had the same results against the three as we have had, i.e. lost at ManC away, ManU home and Arsenal away They were, with finishing position Aston Villa 15th Blackburn - Relegated Bolton - Relegated Everton - 7th QPR - 17th Swansea - 12th Spurs - 4th WBA - 10th i.e. the majority of teams did as well as us against the top three. So, is there need to panic? I think not. We're in pretty good company there, so let's not be giving up just yet...4th is up for grabs! O
I believe in the Daily Mail they said that two teams last season lost the same fixtures as we have so far and they were West Brom and Blackburn.
Whoops! How incredibly embarrassing. In which case, a mere 47% had the same results as us against the top 3.
With goals conceded added: Aston Villa - 15th - 8 Blackburn - Relegated - 12 Bolton - Relegated - 10 Everton - 7th - 4 QPR - 17th - 6 Swansea - 12th - 6 Spurs - 4th - 11 WBA - 10th - 9 I find this stuff interesting. Should I get out more?
In my humble opinion, you might as usefully try reading the tea leaves or examining the entrails of chickens as try to find grains of comfort or harbingers of doom in these kinds of stats (or the ramblings of this or that opinionated writer or commentator for that matter). Enjoy the ride with all the thrills and spills and reflect that the future is rosy whatever happens this season.
Certainly not. Statistics is a noble calling, and what you have clearly shown is that results against the biggest teams are not important in deciding whether a club will be relegated. You are a gentleman and a scholar.
