OK so I'm no statto but I thought I'd compare results this season against results from last season. Not over 5 games played but compared directly to the same fixtures last season - QPR V Swansea 2011/12 3 - 0 2012/13 0 - 5 -3 points Norwich v QPR 2011/12 2 - 1 2012/13 1 - 1 +1 point Man City v QPR 2011/12 3 - 2 2012/13 3 - 1 no change QPR V Chelsea 2011/12 1 - 0 2012/13 0 - 0 -2 points Spurs v QPR 2011/12 3 - 1 2012/13 2 - 1 no change Therefore based on like for like games from this season to this we are a nett 4 points worse off. OK It can be proposed that performances have improved but at this rate we are dropping almost a point per game/average than last season. This is my worry. We scraped home last time out but at this rate of progress its not looking great. OK there are 3 different teams up this year so that skews my data however unless we start winning away this is a one - way progression. Shame I had to give up drinking, I never used to think the stuff up after a decent pouilly-fume. Up the R's!
Or you could argue we were worse against Swansea than last season. Or you could argue we have a far better squad than last season. Ultimately it is results that matter in a league table
We are leaking goals like a sieve, and are finding it hard to convert our chances; that's relegation form in any mans language. Yes we have a good squad, better keeper, no Barton etc, but we have found to our cost that there are no easy games at this level and no whipping boys either. It seems as though the whole pre-season was a waste of time, but what do I know? Depressing.
