Starting the game in 3rd place, 2pts behind the leaders Villa, the reserves lost 3-0 this afternoon. The reports suggest we were beaten by a more experienced team. We fielded a strong squad of youngsters and the experience, although losing, surely proves the benefits of a reserve league. The teams were - Fulham - Somogyi, Grimmer, Kavanagh, Harris, Burn, Minkwitz, Frei, Donegan, Dalla Valle, Trotta, Williams. Subs: Smith, Passley, Bettache, Banga, Woodrow. Villa - Barrett, Lichaj, Williams, Baker, Stevens, Carruthers, Gardner, Bannan, Johnson, Burke, Weimann. Subs: Nelson-Addy, Watkins, Caira, Drennan, Cameron. Goal Scorers: Gardner, Burke, Carruthers This was Ray Lew's first game in charge and our first loss in 7 games. The really bad news is what appears a bad knee injury to Donegan. After the game he tweeted "s*** on crutches and a leg brace my knee is finished". Fingers crossed it's not as bad as that sounds.
No shame in this defeat, Villa are top of the pile and we served up a very young team. Tough one for Lewington to start with. Gutted about Donegan, he seems to think it is a bad one according to his tweet. Hopefully it will not be as bad as expected. Good luck for a speedy recovery.
Froggie, I was about to say the same thing. The average age of our boys must be 16! LOL No shame at all, I only hope they repsond to RL, he's a great coach.
