It has been said that there would be reform as to how players are dealt with when there is alife threatening event on the pitch following Muamba's cardiac arrest. For example, after Čech broke his skull ambulances were required at the ground throughout the entirety of a match to enable a quick response (something that may have well saved Muamba's life). Does anyone know what is being planned in terms of reform and if it will follow the Italian model which, it is said, is far better than what we have in the Premier League and Football League.
An Italian fella died on the pitch this season? To be fair the way they dealt with Muamba was amazing so can't really see how they can improve that will suit every stadium.
Unfortunately not everyone can or will survive a cardiac arrest. But I do recall that some changes were going to be considered.
.....yeah, but that was through luck, a cardiac specialist was in the crowd as a spurs supporter and guessed what had happened and helped, and also faciliated his removal to the hospital.
I think the Italian model you refer to is not about the resources available on match days. But it requires all players to have check ups/ scans etc every 6 or 12 months where in this country it only seems to happen at a players medical. Clearly this would be a good idea but should surely be down to the clubs to instigate it rather than governing bodies. I'm sure there are ideas in the pipeline after this seasons incident.
But what do the Italians do different to us? I don't understand. Tipsy mentioned about the regular scans which is good idea but matchdays I don't understand what they do different?
