Apologies for the errors as I have stolen this off facebook and corrected as much as I could be bothered to. Its interesting though and something I didnt know about. Thought it was worth a share.
Only part of that is true. The bit about Real saying Utd should be awarded the trophy is true, but this the day after the disaster and before Real had actually won it: http://news.google.com/newspapers?i...AJ&pg=3483,1146085&dq=manchester-united&hl=en There were also five (IIRC) friendly games arranged between the two clubs over the next three years where Madrid waived their usual fees to appear and put out full strength squads. The part about Puskas is made up - he didn't actually join Real until summer 1958. Utd thought about signing him, but FA rules about the number of foreigners in a team and the fact he didn't speak English meant they decided not to. The Di Stefano thing is probably an urban myth as well - we broke the British record fee for Quixall in September 1958 so we wouldn't have had financial issues paying Di Stefano's wages. Still a great showing of solidarity by Madrid and Liverpool
Cheers swarbs. Just had it posted on my FB so thought would share, didnt bother checking it as it seemed true enough.
Alex Ferguson(as he was then)and Bryan Robson offered their services after the Hillsborough disaster, they visited survivors in hospitals and went to a couple of the victims funerals as far as im aware. And respect for that to them both.
