You really have to admire the job Niall Quinn has done at Sunderland - bringing in good players, an 'exciting' Geordie manager and in the process of milking some mug of his fortune to support his desire to see Sunderland become a force in English football.
The stadium is impressive if not the attendances, but that is the downfall...

if i recall they finished 15th in their first season back so going of that we're well on track to finish in the elusive "top 9" as long as Pardew spends the 35m in harrods of course and who knows maybe Yewrope

 

Absolutely! I was initially inspired by their great achievement and set finishing one point above the mackems as our objective for next season, as judging by their reaction this is the ultimate achievement in football.

But then I thought ... do we really want to finish one place above the unwashed in the relegation zone!

There seems to be an awful lot of piranhas around this morning...

 

Yeah it has taken them 4 seasons back in the top flight to get a points total as high as the one we achieved on our first season back. Added to that the points totals they achieved in the first two of those seasons would have seen them relegated this season.

We were also only minutes away from achieving the almighty top ten finish at the first attempt but it has taken them 4 years. That is without mentioning the vast disparity in our respective spending over this period (yours was the 5th highest mackems and ours the 20th out of the current premiership teams).

Yet they feel they have bragging rights. They could only make them that dumb in Sunderland!

 

Stupid inbred toon ****s. So bitter at having finished in the bottom half of the table, that they have to try & insult their Superior neighbours Sunderland. Get over it you sad ****s, you finished below us. Deal with it.

 

If you actually learned to read at school instead of raping your family then you might have realised that we don't care about where we finished. All we know is that we are a bigger club than you, and always will be, even without spending the money you have. Just **** off back to your own board.

Bitter?

I'm happy with our finish seeing that:

1) We are a newly promoted side
2) We spent almost nothing to bolster our CCC side
3) We had a managerial transition halfway though the season
4) We sold our most potent goal threat.

To reach safety before the final day was a sign of a successful season to me given the above facts.

Congrats to Bruce and Sunderland. Of all the targets Bruce set out to achieve he managed to only just finish ahead of NUFC by one point and just missed out on that 'Top 9'...
