Evening fellow foxes (and various wums ),

So reading between the lines Chris Weale came on for 10 minutes yesterday and had a bit of a poor game and was slightly slated, yet this is the guy who was linked with Spurs a couple of seasons ago and no one wanted him to leave. Anyway, my point is that if we had a reserve team perhaps our players like Weale who don't play that often would be sharper and match fit and maybe a little more confident as well. Same goes for the others such as Waggie etc.

I appreciate that we play "friendlies" every now and then and who knows, there may be plans for a reserve team in the future but IMO we would be better off with all players playing at least once a week.

Anyway, just a thought, up the city <cool>

I think it would definitely help. Players are coming off the bench sometimes after having little match practice in the recent time and it doesn't help their development if they are young players. They need to be fresh but also ready. It might also help players such as Johnson get match fit quicker.

I don't know what's gon wrong with Weale but since Pearson left it's been clear he's lacking in confidence and has done little right. He doesn't seem to have the right personality for a goalkeeper, instead of being a bit arrogant and self-confident like Schmeichel he seems to freeze on the big occassions. You need someone who won't fold under pressure and who inspires the back four with confidence.

I brought this up during pre-season. I personally couldn't believe that Sven hadn't entered us into a reserve league, especially with such a big squad. It can help players who aren't getting a regular run of games - particularly strikers - gain confidence by playing, and playing well on a regular basis, albeit at a lower level.

Totally agree. We need a reserve team playing in a league of 10 or 12 teams so that those who don't get into the first team have an opportunity to keep fit, interact with team-mates away from the training ground and also stay adaptable to tactics and positions.
