I wonder if anyone here will be attending: http://www.thisisdevon.co.uk/Rescue...nched-summit/story-12946398-detail/story.html If there was an issue with the deal going through I think this would be a good plan. Thoughts?
Rather too late for that I'm afraid with the first league game only 3 weeks away. Also somewhat disturbing that there's continued agitation amongst the fan base for an alternative bid. Not only is it extremely high risk given the lack of time available but it probably signifies a lack of support for the club in it's new form. The numbers buying season tickets over the next few weeks may make or break the club's future.
You are probably right Distant, mind you I have still to get my ST sorted. Waiting for payday to roll around again...
Brendan Guilfoyle says "no other rescue plan".....in the tight timescale we have............this or the end so late in the game. Very worrying that Heaney has us so under his thumb.......if the FL don't accept him we're goners.
Radio Devon and Sparksey are saying that the league are not going to give the share! we will have to wait and see, bit of a worry. Its not going down well with the fans and as Distance states it will affect season ticket sales. This will not be a good start. Lets hope we get some good news soon.
Std alias steel numb nuts has returned as Dozy joe , which i just see he has been banned, Watch out for newbies and planks
It's not a question of Heaney having anyone under his thumb. You can't run more than one bidder beyond a certain point - no bidder will accept that as they risk incurring big costs only to end up losing out at the last minute. Given the time-scales, that's always going to put you in a position where it's too late to turn back. The choice of the PB is arguable but one had to be picked and if it wasn't the curent PB in this situation, it would have been somebody else. If Radio Devon are saying the league aren't happy, have they said why? I can see 2 possible reasons - i) the anonymous bidders and ii) a lack of credibility in Ridsdale's financial plan. The first can be fixed at the right time, the second is much more of a problem. I wasn't saying the fans were right to refuse to buy season tickets because they weren't happy with the bidders - quite the reverse. If fans who would otherwise have bought tickets don't pay up because of some ill judged preference for some mystical alternate owner, then they only precipitate they very problem that they fear i.e. insufficient funds in the club.
The cynic in me can't help being concerned with the stalling on this deal. Think what would be best for Heaney. The wheels are already in motion for him to purchase the ground. If the league are unhappy about the delay and finally refuse the share then there's no Plymouth Argyle. Heaney has the land which he can develop without the irritation of a Football Club being around. Plus no PAFC and that opens up further opportunity for his Truro City. And I've been accused of being the eternal optimist as far as Argyle are concerned but this Heaney fellow is such a tricky character that anything is possible.
