Sorry Rebs, but you can't decide the better of 2 teams by looking at their head-to-head record. For example, Southend United have beaten Man United more times than Man United have beaten Southend United.
That might be ok for domestic football, but this is international football we are talking about. There is no other way to measure the relative merits of countries... If only FIFA had some kind of ranking system to demonstrate that England are a better team. Unfortunately they don't so the only measurement we can use is head to head. 27 years of failing to beat Ireland demonstrate quite clearly that Ireland are superior.
