Ok we can't defend like we used to, no doubt about that BUT

I think I went to a different game to the likes of Red Robin (who has clearly had a McInnes out agenda from day one) and a few others on here. I feared the worst when I heard todays results but a look at the table isn't quite as bad as I thought...

What some seem to forget is that today, we played Blackpool who are on their traditional late surge and West Ham aside, will sweep most teams away and IMHO are going straight back up automatically.

HOWEVER, I was actually pleased with a lot of the aspects of today's game and it was one that the manner in which Blackpool equalised and the late shot that we had hooked off the line clearly showed that it wasn't going to be our day.

The things I was pleased about were the fact that:-

a). we still gave possession away cheaply at times but today, we played the simple ball a LOT more.
b). we got a LOT of crosses in the box today and in addition, they were dangerous
c). we created more dangerous chances today than we probably have in the last half dozen games
d). there was some promising link up play between our strikers and midfield - again, much more than before and one with about 4 one-twos that nearly lead to what would have been a stunning goal if it wasn't for the final shot

and there in you have the nub of why we didn't win which was that we didn't take our chances. Had Wood taken the 2 gilt edge chances and not headed straight at the goalie with the goal gaping and hit the side netting with the goal at his mercy, we would have been 3-0 up and Blackpool would have been dead and buried.

As it was, a lucky deflection from the free kick (which was NEVER a free kick anyway) got them back in the game when they hadn't looked particularly dangerous damaging our confidence and inspiring them to go on and win. Sadly, it is always the case that we need to score a minimum of 2 goals when Kevin Philips starts as he ALWAYS scores against us...

I hadn't counted on getting anything from today but I found the performance much better and I thought the team were more united today which gave me hope that we will avoid the drop...

    COME ON YOU REDS...!!!!

Yes prem I did doubt the appointment regards Del,I still stick by this. The reason experience he had none at championship level.
What I have seen so far is four or five players brought in,yet we still have not moved forward.
Players who in my opinion should be playing that are not.tactics that don't do us any favours in trying to win football games.
I was more than happy to back his appointment, but I don't see any progression.
I will stand by my view, unless something drastically improves we are going back to league 1.
Del was brought in with plenty of time to keep city in the championship, that was his priority
Personally think he will resign if he does not do that job.
I don't blame Del,the job was a task to big in his fledgling career.
The blame is firmly with the board of directors.

I agree 100% Red Robin.............Some fans still have blinkers on...........how long have we gone without a win...........THIS IS NOT A BLIP. It's relegation form and we can not continue to rely on other teams to cock up.
Like you said, not much has improved since Millen got fired and there has been plenty of time.
Wood instead of Maynard is a big joke and could have been avoided by the board.
We've not really tightened up defence as we are leaking goals for fun, plus we are still struggling to be creative in midfield. as for our finishing.......JOKE

Gentlemen, the fat lady hasn't started singing yet....

I saw enough today to encourage me that we can score enough goals to stay up, defending is of course another matter....

We just need some luck and it will change soon.
No way a free kick once they got the goal their tails was up, we just haven't got the confidence but I think it will change there are worse teams, and I think it will go to the wire. But I'm still confident

Some people need to look up the definition of 'supporters' in the dictionary on here!

So he brings back two players to the fold for today's game, signs a strong midfielder to our injury depleted squad and we manage a rather comfortable sixty minutes.

I of course can't ignore the complete collapse that proceeded the above events, but those things directly contradict the complaints of Red Robin above. He has brought back players. My main criticism of him is that he's reactionary, well, more that he's slow to react. Too much a fan of 'wait and see' - if we're one-nil up it's not suicidal to try to change things to solidify one's position.

He says the right things and the players say the right things back. Bar Stead who understandably didn't enjoy the bench. Whatever happens, I want him to have the summer. Don't think a single signing has failed. Unless there's now an anti-Wood bandwagon as we were meant to replace Maynard with a similar goal machine. I swear our fans underestimate this level. Should have seen the negative comments before Stead's goal then the RELIEF of some people when they were 'proved right' by the subsequent collapse (on OTIB - a reason why I don't post there). Do us Bristolians in general enjoy misery? Or is it just a British trait?

Also Dels signings that some people are saying no better than what we have?

Pearson huge improvement on Woolford JCR
    Foster versatile and an improvement
Davies going on today's performance really impressed
McManus I think is an massive improvement on Nyatanga
Woods scored 11 goals before he came here so is capable to improve.
Off you go doubters tell me I'm wrong!

    Anywhere.

Anything can happen. It's the glory of a competitive league and a team that vacillates as wildly as ours. After Newcastle, West Brom, QPR, Cardiff, Southampton (some select fixtures from the past few seasons we've expected to get a good thrashing in and not) would anybody be that surprised if we shocked West Ham? Or Leicester? Or those Wembley-visiting bastards?

Some people need to get their head out of the sand.
Some people need to know that relegation is a distintive possiblity.
Some people should realise that we have gone 6 games without a win and only gained one point.

Does not stop us from being supporters of the club.

But you constantly run Del down all the time.
Saying is he the man for the job it's getting repetitive every week, we all give you our view to be doing the same next week!
