I did say earlier that the news in the internet Sky link was different to what was being said from the newsdesk on SSN today. The reporter in the link clearly cherry picked sentences from the whole interview giving it the slant he wanted. Why people fall for it is the problem here.
Because people are too lazy to read the actual story and settle for the headlines, no matter how unrelated they are to the story or general fact.
In my view the agent should know better. Is he really so naive that he doesn't realise that whatever he says will be taken down, twisted around, and used for the media's own purposes? He represents what is currently the most wanted player in football. If he doesn't realise that his every word will be scrutinised, then he's a fool.
I'm sure he knows exactly what he's doing. There's no way that an agent gives an interview to a famous Real Madrid paper and talks about how honoured he and his client would be to receive an offer from them and not think the media would pick it up and run with it. Naive people don't make it as an agent, you've got to be a duplicitous, money hungry, people trafficker. Lets hope Bale sacks him, or at least tells him to shut up.
Not casual words by the agent. He's upping the ante either to get a move for Bale or to negotiate a better extension to his contract with Spurs. That extension has been on the table since 10th May, if not a lot earlier; so why the waiting game?
If that's the case, I assume it's with the consent of his client? If not, then yes, Bale should find himself another agent. If Bale was, however, aware of what was going to be said, then we have an idea of where his head is at.
Not necessarily, they're advisors to the player but tend to go out on a limb at times too. I doubt Bale cares that much and even if he did the slimy agent can put on some spin about helping him get more money or it being an accident.
I can't believe Bale doesn't care. Apart from anything else, this guy basically works for him - or, at least on his behalf.
He's on holiday. Plus there are so many agents trying to get involved and get a piece of the action these days that it's very possible not the main guy or at least not the main one representing him. If I had a choice between spending time golfing, or with my family on a beach, and getting irate over some newspaper story, I know what I'd do.
Just why has Barnett suddenly turned up in Spain of all countries?, and available for a quick slot on a tv show...if it were on another clients behalf, he shouldn't be talking about it at all.
I would repeat, IF he's done all this without his client's knowledge, then I think it's about time his "client" had a few words with him.
I agree. I think it's about time all agents were given proper set of rules and players turned to their family for unbiased advice and not some prick chasing fast, easy money.
There's a lot of truth to this LittleDLuke., however its a nasty game which can only end in an ugly way for all concerned except maybe the agent. Most people are of the opinion that Bale will be a Real Madrid player at the end of next season. Real Madrid can be almost assured of this. The current price on the tag is not likely to fall or indeed rise much between now and the end of next season., even if he (Bale) signs the new contract. In Reality (excuse the pun) it doesn't suit Mr Barnett that Real Madrid are not making a fuss over the Bale situation, at the moment, and I believe it is the calm business executive brains at Real Midrid who have narked Mr Barnett in recent weeks. Hence his rather careless comment. Well..., at least thats what it sounds like to me.
Barnett works for Stellar Football Ltd who have a fairly large number of clients, including our own Gylfi Sigurdsson, Ledley King, Adam Smith and Steven Caulker. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/stellar-football-ltd/details/berater_190.html None of them appear to be based in Spain and Bale's the only one that's been linked with a move to there, as far as I can see.
Not sure I trust a website that claims Fabio is more valuable than Caulker... Or that says Szczesny has any value at all.
