Lots of speculation about our striker and big clubs in the running, Arsenal, Liverpool, PSG and now Bayern. How much do we think we should hold out for? I think £15m http://footballleagueworld.co.uk/bayern-munich-prepare-shock-bid-for-qpr-striker/
How many times do we have to do this? As far as we know he has a buy out clause in his contract, rumoured to be £8-10m (I saw £9.9m in the Times this week). There is no point any club bidding more than that, if there is a queue Remy gets to choose (not us), and doubtless he will choose based on the club, CL football and especially how much cash they are offering him (not us).
SORRY STAN...WE WERE TYPING AT SAME TIME YOU HAVE ANSWERED MY QUESTION We are still unsure about his get out of jail free card. Can someone answer if someone bids * million...he can go??? So if Gillingham bid £34 million and Arsenal bid £8 million and a penny. We would have to let him go to Arsenal???
Yes, if the buy out clause is £8m and a penny. Only if there is no relevant buy out clause does the size of the bid become relevant. The fact that Newcastle, not big spenders, thought they had a chance of signing him indicates to me that there is a buy out clause at a relatively low level. No way would Toon enter a bidding war for him.
Sb73 you got that wrong mate , he will go to whoever a: will pay the most and b: where he gets paid the most , simple.
I thought the buy out clause was only active so long as we were in the championship? (relegation release clause.) If we get promoted, my understanding is the buy-out clause becomes null and void. Hence a bidding war can take place. Again, this is just speculation.
It's in his interest to go for the biggest offer, he will get a percentage of the fee, plus obviously wages.
Sounds like no-one really knows... As stated above - if there is a buy out clause (and I don't know anyone who knows that for sure, though someone may be able to fill in the facts) he will go for that - the decision is then for him to make on personal terms i.e. signing on fee/wages which is where the buying club can entice him by making him as rich as Croesus - so if there is a trigger amount, no-one is obliged to offer more since if that fee amount is triggered that's the end of it from the club's POV ...BUT since we don't appear to know how much the clause is - or what happens in the event of promotion... it's all just speculation... which means we are all right... and wrong!
The clause is crap and a precedent has been set by Liverpool with Suarez. We could simply refuse to sell. No club is going to embark on a lengthily legal battle to secure a player when they may lose. They will focus on getting someone else when they need them.
I've posted this every time the how much is remy worth thread gets going, but it seems to be ignored. I had a conversation with David McIntyre who said he believed that the buy out clause was void because the wording stated he could leave last summer if we were relegated, but no clubs made an offer so remained our player. It remains I'm remy's interest to go for as large a sum as possible, so I'd expect him to go to the largest bidder who's playing in the champions league next year, unless fernandes loses at FIFA and can persuade him to stay with us once promoted.
