I've been pondering over this for a while and not seen anything written on this yet. But with Remy bailed till September, where does this leave the club and the player? No one is going to what to go in for a player with a rape charge hanging over them are they? As if the case falls apart then we may well have him till January? Or do we want to try hawking him out and taking any money and running? Will a club play such a player? Innocent until proven guilty and all that.
Think we're all wondering the same thing - wish there was more concrete news coming out of the club, but I fear that this uncertainty is going to run and run.
Innocent till proven guilty. We have already played him and can continue to do so. Lets hope its a load of rubbish and to our benefit. If he can help get us off to a flying start its an addictive feeling being part of a top of the table winning side and he'll be far more inclined to stay. If found guilty cut off his nads!
I have been wondering this too. Innocent until proven guilty is correct and whilst he is on bail the club cannot say anthing as otherwise it would be subjudicy. I have always thought that he would go to Arsenal but with this hanging over him I suspect that no club would be willing to take a gamble of signing him. So I think we will have him for at least until he answers bail. If he is subsequently charged then that will probably be the last we see of him until the trial and the future after that will obviously depend on the outcome. If no charges are brought then we will have him til January and then he might leave.
In a nutshell ... IMO: A DIVINE COMEDY Generation sex respects the rights of girls Who want to take their clothes off As long as we can all watch that's okay And generation sex elects the type of guys You wouldn't leave your kids with And shouts off with their heads if they get laid Lovers watch their backs as hacks in macs Take snaps through telephoto lenses Chase Mercedes Benz' through the night A mourning nation weeps and wails But keeps the sales of evil tabloids healthy The poor protect the wealthy in this world Generation sex injects the sperm of worms Into the eggs of field mice, so you can look real nice For the boys, and generation sex is me and you And we should really all know better It doesn't really matter what you say
Hope for the sake of everybody concerned in that situation, that it is more so a media beat up than anything else. I'm all about taking a negative and making a positive out of it and if he is innocent, he may just want to stay to prove a point. We can only dream of his ability in the Championship. Even if he does stay and bangs in the goals as we would expect, he'd be gone in the January transfer window but hey, get us off to a great start and see what happens.
Might just give us the year in order to let any dust settle. or in gratitude to the manager/board supporting him. (Yeh, I know.) His value at the moment is absolute zero until after the trial or the charges are dropped. It will be interesting to see how quickly his value recovers if things go his way.
What most of you are forgetting is it is a World Cup season and he needs to be playing top flight football in order to get any chance of going, so once the trail is over he is as good as gone and knowing the justice system in this country could take a while so we may have him for the season yet.
