TF said the other day that world class players won't be leaving as expected, he has just posted a picture of Remy now on Instagram saying 'one of the world class players at Qpr'. Very good news it sounds like to me!!
Saw that myself a minute ago Obviously we all hope this news is true, and to be honest if a top 4 club doesn't come in for him he could do a lot worse than play for us where he'd be guaranteed a place every game, would be worshipped by the fans, and living in London isn't too bad. I reckon TF has convinced him to stay until at least Christmas, put his name back in the frame and then see from there.
I know some will say "but he didn't want to play for us in the Championship", but he was never expected to, nor would we have wanted him to stay for the same reasons we didn't want Cesar. If TF has managed to persuade him, this is his finest piece of work to date! Imagine him and Charlie together?! This would be great news if true.
That's a shock to me, good job we arent doing a saints and selling our 6 best players and using youth products to replace them. Trouble is, where does he fit in? We aren't playing two up front and yes not a lone forward.
Remy didn't have the impact in the World Cup that he wanted to, and certainly won't have increased his stock. When Wenger sees Giroud constantly being given the nod over Remy, and when he sees the two of them making the same runs, he'll maybe conclude that they can't play in the same side. Just my thoughts, but if Arsenal are cooling on the idea, maybe this is a factor?
Questions for my learned fellow posters:- 1) What happened to his court case? 2) Is his release clause invalidated by our return to the Prem? Aside from his quality with the ball, he's not a bad worker but the only way I'd see him and Austin in the same team is if one (or both in rotation) drop back into midfield when we lose the ball. Have a feeling the Austin will get shunted to the bench though.
The team would clearly have to be built to play to his strengths. He's effective down the middle, not out wide and if that's in a 2 up front with Austin or Austin being benched then so be it.
Remy could be an inside forward but drop to the wing when we lose it. A role hooper would also play. So it would be the iceman/Austin up front, Remy/hooper supporting from wide and Zamora on the bench.
Maybe they are not offering him the money that we are already paying him!! He doesn't need to go to a "big" club to allow him to play for the national team for a while. Next year, with the Euros coming up it might be a different story.
Great news if true, but what about the ice man if they sign him or hooper. will one of them be happy on the bench?
Wed get killed playing 442, our midfield won't be as good as the opposition even without them having the extra man. Remy did the wide role for france,
Could well be that the release clause is now gone as we are back up and no one will pay what we want for him. The idea of him playing off Austin is awesome!
We should sign both, there should be competition for places. I think this proves the release clause has gone.
