Apparently....

QPR suffer huge injury blow

Written by James Lamb on February 5, 2013

Harry Redknapp has suffered a hammer blow as he looks to guide Queens Park Rangers to Premier League safety.

Loic Remy, his marquee signing from the January transfer window, could face up to two months on the sidelines, reports the*Mirror.

The France international has suffered an abductor muscle injury, a knock he picked up in training last week, which saw him miss the Hoops’ 0-0 draw at home to Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.

Fuming

The former Tottenham boss is now allegedly fuming that the club failed to secure the signature of West Bromwich Albion striker Peter Odemwingie.

Redknapp commented on the injury earlier this week, before he knew how long Remy would face on the sidelines.

“He tore a groin muscle in training on Thursday and I have no idea at the moment how long he will be out,” he told*Sky Sports.

“It was in the last minute of training, and he just struck a ball and felt it go.

“We will have to see how he is on Sunday and Monday, and then take it from there.”

Options

Remy scored on his debut against West Ham United at Upton Park but QPR failed to secure a much-needed win as Joe Cole leveled with 20 minutes to go.

The former Portsmouth and Southampton manager opted to start Jamie Mackie up front in the absence of Remy in their draw against the Canaries, but could also call on Bobby Zamora and Jay Bothroyd.

Redknapp’s side are unbeaten in the Premier League so far this year, but have won just once in their last eight league games and remain rooted to the bottom of the table.

I think we need Cisse back for a repeat of last seasons dramatics. Harry has truly fecked up with this Remy bloke. This situation needs sorting out, sharpish.
Our 'Arry seem to be missing the point.
We all knew on here that we needed quality strikers on board.

Not so those that are paid literally millions to run our club.
I'm pretty sure that this board could collectively run our club better than the misfits employed during the last 24 months. How hard can it be? Really?

Redknapp is as clueless as Hughes.

I'm sure Harry agreed to loan out Cisse on the assumption that we would sign two strikers. It should've been PO. That was handled very poorly and I think Harry is secretly fuming that we didn't get him. So they asked for Hoilett on loan and we pay his wages for 4 months. Why the hell not??

It's too easy to try to conclude without being close to what is actually happening.

We shouldn't turn on HR nor the team, we've got to keep faith.

Why would we want Cisse? He has been a waste of space over the last few months and desperate to get out.

Can't see him as the Messiah.

Abductor muscle injuries are usually pretty serious.

I'd prefer him to a 25% fit Zamora and Bothroyd!!

Hi Lads,

what about Saha? he's a free agent, has tonnes of experience and has useful for us in the past. To be honest, I'm amazed we haven't snapped him up with our embarrassing striker predicament!

'Arry's worked with him before, so it wouldn't surprise me if you guys sort out a deal for him this week, if this Remy news is as bad as it sounds.

Best of luck. I still don't think you'll go down.

<ok>

Cheers mate.
I've never really rated Saha, but then again, if Remy is out for a long time then we need to do something!

I said the same when we signed him. - Out of frustration mainly, as we needed a top top striker. (and still do <grr>)
But to be fair to Saha, he'll did a decent job and he scored a few important goals for us, bearing in mind he was a bit-part player.
He could be a very good emergency replacement for Remy. - there's a few similarities between them.

No need to panic we have other players and Remy isn't at all bedded in yet

The only time I would get low is if we lost Adel ... The lad is always our best chance of a goal anyway

SWP's movement is one of his best qualities ... Don't worry I don't expect many to see that on here
His work rate is good of course he doesn't look sharp but if played central can you see him nipping in onto low crosses? The one on one's maybe not do good with us but he gets into great positions and is difficult to mark or predict all the attributes of a little fox

We won't care where these goals come from and don't forget Samba
If we need to nick a goal don't always look at your strikers lads
Away we need to be solid to give ourselves a chance of getting a result

Can't understand the panic when you look at our squad. There is not a formula that allows to buy a guaranteed match winning striker under 25 million in this division and guess what even they get injured too

Im fuming aswell. cant believe we got ourselves into this mess when we had a month. unfortunately We cannot do anything to replace remy if he is injured for months.

You cannot make changes to the 25 man squad unless you have left a space and you sign a free agent. Other than that nothing. So loaning out campbell doesnt create a space either. We are stuck with what we have

1 game 1 goal 8 million and he will be off you couldn't make it up. Hope he agrees to stay when we go down, and repay the faith we had in him

More than a little harsh in my opinion. Harry couldn't possibly have predicted that Remy would get injured, and we don't yet know the extent of that injury. For all we know at this stage he could be back in time for the Man U game.

As for the Odemwingie debacle, again it would have been out of Harry's hands, he openly admits that he identifies the players he would like and the board take it from there.

We can't get Cisse back from his loan anyway, so it's pointless talking about it, but even if we could I wouldn't see him as our saviour. He had months before being loaned out to put in the performances, but in my opinion didn't look interested, why would that be any different now?

Is that definitely correct? I’ve never really got my head around the whole named 25, and under 21 and free agents exclusions thing. Now DJ has appeared in our named 25 is that it, even though he’s going out on loan?? If that is the case, then including him the squad with the full knowledge that he’s going out on loan is an unforgivably childish error.

For the sake of the club, Harry, Tony and us, I really hope that this isn’t the case and that we can still potentially add someone like Saha to the squad..
