I think all the uncertainty surrounding Remy didn't help us a bit. Austin played with renewed confidence, as if he knew he was the main man. I know we can't rely solely on him, but the midfield really pitched in today. Hoilett looked sharp and Mutch was much improved. When Fer's shot whacked the bar I thought it might not be our day, but it actually spurred us on. If we can get a half decent striker in before the deadline we stand half a chance. Hope we don't go back to 3 or 5 at the back, which makes it daft to let Simpson go. First win after only 3 games, sweet!!!
Feels good to get the first win on the board and be mid table after the last month of woe. I do despair if Charlie gets injured though as i think he will score 15-20 goals for us this season if he stays fit
It's a shame we couldn't keep him and just horrible that it's come so late in the transfer window. But it's better to get it out the way now so we can buy someone who has time to bed in. If Remy had gone in January it may have hurt us more. But it seems the Chelsea only activated the clause as lunchtime today and that Remy was fully prepared to play for us today, but Harry said no. But fair play to Remy, he's a professional and if he hadn't gone would have played to the best of his abilities, I shall always remember the goal against Wigan and just glad to have seen him play for us.
Hola Peruv! Just talking about you today with our mutual friend. Hope u r well. It was a really good performance and Harry has NOT created Queens Park Stranger like Hughes did. Keep well. When are you next at HQ?
This is why Rednapp was trying to get rid of him early, to avoid this scenario, but unfortunately it's happened. I'm sure we've been looking for many targets, now we know we have to try and get 2 over the line instead of 1.
Not sure RTID, probably not until next year. I was actually back in the UK a week ago for my father-in-law's funeral. He'd suffered a lot over last couple of years and is now in a much better place. Say hi to Pie for me. You Rssssssss
As with the Simpson deal, we are now badly short up front. Seriously bad timing. Everything seems to have just blown up in the last day or so. Our squad looked settled and had cover in most positions - now its wide open again. We have to find a replacement now, but who is available at this short notice?
Im glad that the Remy situation has been sorted.now time to move on and get a decent replacement, that wants to give it his all for the shirt..oh and please Tony lets not let future players put in clauses that are not beneficial to us.COYRSSSSSS
Again remember not entirely Tony's fault...he would have gone last summer, definite.... if he had not got that rape charge hanging over him I am not sure if that scenario was good or bad...in retrospect. Assuming that Newcastle paid his wages last season, we have paid his (large wages) for about an extra 4 months, and got 2 games out of him...so probably a waste...but not entirely Tony and Arrys fault
He's not passed his medical yet! 'Many a slip twixt cup and lip'. It'll be interesting to see whether the Chelsea/Arsenal medicals are as stringent as Liverpool's...
I've never been totally convinced that the problem was a medical one. Something very off key and hinky went on there.
Maybe so, but desperation often clears the hurdles... I think the QPR medical was a hand down the pants and cough please Mr Remy...
That is also very true. Necessity is the mother of invention, maybe we invented a new kind of medical that you have so eloquently described.
Maybe this all means we'll go back for the Icelandic striker Kolbeinn Sigthorsson. It was nearly all agreed already apart from personal terms. Can't say I know enough about him to say he'd be the answer to all our prayers but at least he wouldn't technically be a last gasp desperation signing as we were already after him. If we got him and of course Vargas, with Charlie and Bobby we'd at least have 4 dedicated strikers on the books....or 3 and a half as Bobby will only ever be an impact sub from now on. Maybe enough to get us to January window.
