Glad to see we are playing hard ball on this one.

IF he stays and provided he is cleared in September a front 2 of Remy and Austin has goals written all over it!

Harry Redknapp has told Newcastle they must pay Loic Remy’s £8million buy-out clause if they want to sign him.

Newcastle want the Queens Park Rangers striker on a season’s loan after appearing to pull out of the race for Aston Villa’s Darren Bent.

Standard Sport revealed last month that Remy looked set to stay at QPR because clubs were not willing to buy him because he had been bailed until September over an allegation of rape. Remy denies the allegation.

Redknapp said: “I don’t think he will go on loan. I can’t see any sense in it. I don’t know why we’d pay £8million and then loan him out. If he was to go, someone will have to pay for him. He has a buy-out clause and we want our money back.”

Redknapp has revealed QPR expect to complete the £4m signing of Burnley striker Charlie Austin today, despite fears over a long-term knee injury.

Austin, 24, who scored 45 goals in 90 appearances for Burnley, saw a move to Hull collapse last month after failing his medical. Austin was at QPR this morning for a medical.

Redknapp said: “I have always liked him, he’s a goalscorer. He scored a fantastic array of goals last season and if you get the ball into the box for him, he will find the net.”
