As in the last week or so there's been a number of incidents around the site been brought to my attention I think we need a few reminders of things: Firstly, this site is a multi-club site and users are allowed to post on whichever forums they want to providing they stick within the rules. That means we can go on other boards, and fans of other teams can come on here, and this is what the site owner wants to happen. If anybody wants to post on a forum that only allows City fans on then you're probably better off on another site. Secondly, each forum was is allowed to make its own rules to suit the users of the forum in question. This forum is one of the most lightly moderated forums on the site, so when going elsewhere if you post in the same way you may well find moderators deleting posts and warning you to calm down. If that happens it is irrelevent what we allow on here, it's their forum and their rules so we won't be intervening for you (If you're being banned the reason and time is given to me on the mod board, if it's not been on there I may ask them but that's about it) Thirdly, this is one of the busiest forums on the site. Along with the previous point that means more potentially offensive posts can be made on here than elsewhere if it's not actually offensive because of the context. If it were a quieter, or even unused board something happened to be posted on then it would remain on the first page for a lot longer, meaning new users to the site would see it without the context. ------------------------------------------------ For the record, in the last week we've had at least one person go against each of those points. There's also another I've been asked by a mod to have a word about them posting using multiple accounts in order to wum on other forums. I've to do a bit of digging for info on that, but in advance of doing that tomorrow, if it's a legitimate case of someone doing that they should probably stop now.
Which is clearly aimed at us because millwall fans can't accept that we're 3 lads in college signed up and posting in free time. Don't you think it's a bit weird that we're online at the same time? Even you Ricardo understand that if we're on the same college system, it'll have the same IP address? They're just being cocks.
I've just replied to your PM. The information available to the supermod is greater than I have available to myself normally, but he's given me some of it and I said to him exactly that before I even posted this thread. What do you mean "even you" though? I was the one that posted on the Millwall section saying that same IP can be coincidental, it's generally me advising other mods to be cautious when matching accounts using it for those reasons. You'd also get dynamic IP addresses causing the same situation as that (which we've had in the past), although in this case the fact it's more than 2 accounts would make that much less likely than a workplace or college campus. For the benefit of everybody though. This thread was already going to be made before the potential multi-posting situation emerged. There was a user banned for a short time from another forum, and I had a post by one of our users removed from a different other forum as if it were seen out of context (there are no mods on the forum concerned, so it would be an outsider seeing it) I was concerned the user may have received a ban.
I genuinely do no understand the mentality of people who 'WUM', I mean what is the point, and what the **** do you get out of it?
All I'll add is just beware of double standards. Some boards mods will allow you to be verbally abused time after time and as soon as you give a bit back you get banned. FACT.
Some wums are very good, you get the odd wind up that's really funny, but most on here are just kids being annoying, there was a much higher standard of wumming on the old 606. As CG says, there's a lot of double standards on here, it's not like it was in my day...
Some WUMs are completely unintended and some posters get linked with obvious other WUM accounts by some Southern incest pricks **** it, we're all the same account on here aren't we lads...
I have been known to partake in banter on other boards. I was also involved in the thread which saw one of our posters temporarily banned from another club's board. And if my comments were a contributory factor to our poster.being banned I apologise. That said, both he and I were subject to a lot of.personal abuse, so I wax surprised to hear of.the ban of ours because of personal abuse. However, I would.never dream of.creating a second account in order to go wumming or having banter and I sincerely hope that none of our posters would do that as, to.me, it appears pointless and frankly pathetic
It's a Wind Up Merchant. CG's ban was heavy handed and unnecessary, though as it was only for 24 hours, it wasn't really a big deal. As a board, we have traditionally not banned anyone unless they were a completely irritating troll, who posted repeated nonsense that ruined threads and ignored all requests to jack it in. Several other boards on here take the same approach, so there are few issues. Sometimes posters push their luck on other boards(including me), but it rarely results in a ban. It's one of the major benefits of this board over the old 606.
I only mind when it spoils threads, like the numpty going on about respecting Marlon Kings human rights
I think you got the wrong end of the stick with what Danger was saying in that thread to be honest Jacques
ive been on various forums (and cb radio for that matter ) for 30 off years now and i can say this about WUMs . . . they are for the most part not interested in Banter (another word or phrase that has changed its meaning since the interwossit) they are interested in causing offence right up until they are rounded on when they claim its "Banter" and people shouldn't take offence . I remember Wumming or Remping (not the definition on urban dictionary ) on CBradio it is exactly the same thing and was always best when skilfully ignored Banter is friendly nonsense that a friendly head nod is provided by all Wumming is incessant posts that continue right up until someone reacts and THEN that person is usually laughed at in some way for "falling for it "
I've not been on here for a week, though the negative rep I have from a now-deleted-thread on the Pompey board says this might have something to do with me...
