Remind you of a certain website for watching matches?

"... for the truly brave, there is a shady European website (we're pretty sure just linking to it is a violation of the Geneva Conventions) out there that will literally give you access to every sporting event on television at absolutely no charge to you. And all you have to do is navigate your way through a minefield of the most difficult to close, virus-laden Internet ads you could ever imagine to get there.

[They] might look like regular pop-up ads, but we assure you they are not. There are tricks and tactics employed here that will fool even the most savvy computer users. For example, one of the ads features a red "X" that moves the first time you try to click it.
Another ad features a red "X" that is merely that; a red box with a white "X" in it. Clicking it will just launch the ad. Some ads can't be closed at all. You just have to refresh the screen and start the process over.

It's cutting edge stuff as far as pop-up ads go, but fighting your way through it means you can watch all the sports you could ever hope to see.

And all it will cost you is potentially turning your computer into a remotely controlled spambot that quietly helps finance the Eastern European sex trafficking trade (probably)."

Just download an ad-block extension for your web browser? I tend to get very few adverts on websites now, it gets most of them.

AdBlock is very good if you're using Google Chrome (free too).

This is the one I use, and there are versions for Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Android, so unless you inexplicably use Internet Explorer, you should be sorted (if you do, I'm sure others exist). It's free, and I've never had any problems with it.

    Edit: Ah, great minds JK.

That was before they moved the domain to Europe from the states - the feds can't touch it any more, not their jurisdiction over here <ok>

Excellent! Glad to know that. It annoys me that people can watch any Premiership game they want abroad on normal TV but we can't. I can afford to go and watch games but getting a ticket is total different story.

ah firstrow. Seems such a long time ago I had to wait for the result on BBC's final score. Firstrow you have made the last 2 years the best of times.

    thank you:emoticon-0106-cryin

I have just added ad-block to Google Chrome (just Google 'Ad-block' and it will come up). It knocked out all but one ad on first-row, so getting to the game should be much easier now. As said above, if you use first-row make sure you use the .eu extension or the US authorities will block the site. Quite literally 'spoil-sports'!

Thanks for the ad-block tip. I'm on chrome but knew nothing of it until tonight.
I tend to find on most streams, firstrow, VIPbox, etc that once you lose the start up banners and can then go full screen, it's no longer an issue.

When you leave full screen for any reason, like to check Canaries Soccer's matchday threads, the pop ups/banners tend to reoccur.

Why don't the satellite providers reintroduce pay-per-view? Say £5 per domestic link, £50 for pubs and clubs, job done. The feed is there anyway and it would enable virtually every fan to watch every game that their team is involved in - without breaking the bank <ok>

I've used adblock for a while now, I really like it, because I can't stand pop-ups, static ads don't really bother me. It's a shame really because I have to block fairly indiscriminately, it means people like small youtube channels or new websites don't make the ad revenue they otherwise would, which is something I'd rather support.

As for pay-per-view, I'd support it, but probably not at that price. £5 a game over a PL season is £190 a season, which is getting close to season ticket price. Call it £1 a game, and seeing as I'm likely to watch other games that are on over the weekend too if at all possible, they'll probably more money than they would otherwise.

Plenty of Russian Bride and win Iphone adverts still I just ignore them. However there was a time when I lost the laptop wires to connect my macbook up with the TV so I decided to try and use the Playstation 3 to log in that was a very bad idea! I hope certain games people had saved on there have not been corrupted as it didn't happen too long ago <whistle>
