Plans were announced today of the Council's intention to erect a Remembrance Memorial to all those poor souls who lost their dignity during Halloween 2010.

Over the last year various meetings have been held to discuss the most suitable form that this memorial should take and a focus group has been set up to gather the opinions of local residents.

Several ideas were whittled down from the hundreds received, with a statue of a crying monkey crashing a magic carpet, a shredded season ticket to the Stadium of Light made from marble, and a likeness of Susan Boyle kicking a water bottle, amongst the front runners.

However, it has been decided that a bus, parked permanantly outside St James' Park would be the most fitting tribute. Local people could enter the bus for free to sit and contemplate what it must have been like for those poor, sad, mackems, sitting there for the whole of the second half, knowing that their heroes were being massacred inside our great cathedral. Somber music will be played on the bus, to reflect their despair and desolation with "Keep your feet still Geordie hinny" and "Daydream Believer" being nominated as the most suitable.

5teve 1nce, a spokesman for the focus group Mackems in Need said today, "We are hoping that by providing this interactive memorial, local residents will realise the pain, suffering and humiliation that our unhygenic neighbours suffered that day. Toilet facilities will also be installed for those who piss themselves laughing"

If this idea proves popular, other city councils are considering similar memorials to mark Mackem humiliations, however, it is thought that these will be restricted to England. No European cities have shown any interest in copying the plan, and the Mayor of Milan clarified his city's reasoning by saying " As we never get Mackems in Milan, there really is no need."
