Same window we sold Carroll in 2011, and we signed no one but a then 34 year old striker as a reinforcement, who was playing for the likes of Derby and scoring **** all.

He was a 1 in 2 striker for Ipswich... between 2003-2005.

After being released by us we went on to become a 1 in 4 striker at Oldham Athletic... and then moved onto hibs.

He eventually got fired from Hibs after scoring 0 goals in 13 games, only 2 years after we let him go.

He struggled to find a club between 2013-2016, but found a finnish team willing to sign him at the age of 40.

Just ****ing lol. What logic was behind this signing?

Basically we took it right to the edge of the window and made Liverpool pay a stupid and hilarious price.

With half an hour before that window shut the striker options were obviously limited so we ended up with Kuqi as a replacement.

A classic example of dealings in the Mike Ashley era. Those days are long gone.

I like Kuqi. Whole hearted. I mean he was seriously limited but the likes of him and Sibierski were ok stop gaps.

I see Wood the same way. Its just our stop gaps can now be 25m <laugh>

Siberski was great for us, we had zero expectation and he played his balls off.

Kuqi didn't do Jack ****, but Tbf we didn't expect him to do anything.

Aye he just charged about a bit. He was more like a wrestler. I think sometimes players like him just feel fortunate to get to play at a stadium like St James. Being truthful his record never suggested he was good enough, but I wish some others with more talent would put the same effort in. I thought Sibierski was gonna be a lazy pansy. Worked his bollocks off and got stuck in.
