Daily Mail claiming we've reeled in Pearce's mate as our next signing. Would be pleased with this if true, 22 year old centre back who can also play RB and DM. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...2/Leeds-sign-Joel-Ward.html?ito=feeds-newsxml EDIT: Some sources say he's a natural RB. We'll wait and see.
Beating Ipswich to a signing, would make a change from last season. They put a downer on it though with the mention of White, although to be fair, as Warnock doesn't see him as a LB i won't be too sad to see him leave as i don't think he's a good enough winger.
If we sign the entire Portsmouth squad, we will get relegated. Can someone tell Warnock this I'm not saying he is a bad signing mind
And on a side note, am I the only person who doesn't care whether Aidy White leaves or not. He isn't good enough as a LB and his final ball and positioning makes him not good enough for LW. Pair that with the fact we'll get compensation money for his contract running out and it seems like a good deal to me
I read this somewhere the other day but ignored it as we are being linked with so many players at present. Now it has popped up again you have to wonder if there is some truth in it. Bates has stated that we are going to have a 21 man squad, Ward has played LB, RB, CB and Midfield, although I prefer players in solid positions with a small squad it is handy having players who can fill in when needs must, 22 years old and Premiership experience, I would be happy to get him. Maybe Warnock is also thinking that it would help solve the players getting used to each others styles just a little bit with so many new faces expected?
Morning all. Can't say I know a lot about Ward. But I trust Warnock's judgement. So let's see if it happens. On White, he's still young & developing. Papers claim that he's attracting interest from Championship clubs. Apart from more money, why would White want to move to another championship club? A PL club certainly, but Cardiff for example. Strikes me that he is being badly advised. I hope he stays, as he will develop & already has pace to burn.
I expect Aiden White to leave and I am not too upset about it, I would like to know what we offered him to make sure we made a fair offer. With Bates saying no more signings I would expect at least one more to shortly join, so Joel Ward might be on the way. Plus Portsmouth had a great team that only went down due to a points deduction and a financial implosion. Remember when that happened to us we lost the big names, but we also lost young players like Keogh, Lennon, Milner, Carson so these lads might be some hidden gems.
Lets face it he will be coming for a much smaller fee because of their plight so it makes good business sense to me
You can see Bates seeing the £'s flashing in front of him, many are saying Pearce was worth 1.5 million and we got him for a 3rd of that due to Portsmouths circumstances. The age of the pair excites me, fans (Portsmouth) seem to love them, Premiership experience, Portsmouth only relegated this season due to their finances and points deduction as Old Peacock pointed out, lets sign him up today!!
How can you say getting like 200k compo for white would be a good deal? he has massive potential (pace scares the **** out of defenders) and could be worth so much more if he developed his overall game. Clubs moving forward dont sell their good young talent and especially dont let them leave for peanuts
Once again, people happy to see one of our best players this season walk out the door just for a quick buck in the short term. Hopeless situation when even supporters can't see there's no consistency or long-term planning going on at Elland Road, just one-at-a-time, sell-to-buy, smash-and-grab transfer policy as always. Really saddens me. Warnock will change nothing, mark my words. Joel Ward as a right-back would be OK, on the other hand.
He certainly isn't our worst and he ain't mediocre in the squad either. Tbh we shouldn't be losing young exiting talent like White whether or not he is our best player. To many fans are accepting that we must lose someone this summer and along as Snodgrass stays it's perfectly acceptable to lose any other good/decent players we have like Clayton (who has the shining light of the start of the season and destroyed West Ham away) or White (who could destroy full backs with his pace even if he was shocking defensively).
Yes, I am. Snodgrass and McCormack are the only ones that have been head-and-shoulders above him and other players of a similar ability level like Clayton, Becchio and Lonergan. Even if he's been average, it's a **** idea to sack him off when he's been one of the better ones of a bad bunch. Bring in too many new faces and it will blow up spectacularly. A player like White can be class at this level, he just needs a consistent set of lads around him, a good understanding with the winger and a bit of confidence to get him back to top form again like we saw in certain games this season.
