I think Lovenkrands has been a decent servant to the club, always grafts and has looked useful at times. One season too many I think and now's the time for him to drop down/ see his career out in Denmark.

Lovenkrands - 78 appearances, 28 goals (stats admittedly boosted by a season in the Championship)
Smith - 93 appearances, 0 goals (remember he was signed as a striker)

Fair enough Smith was coming back from a horrible injury but he should have moved on long ago. Remember reading that he's the 6th biggest fouler in prem history! <yikes>

I will always have a lot of respect for Lovenkrands for playing (and scoring) against West Brom despite JUST losing his father with whom he was very close. When he scored that goal, one of the most emotional scenes I've ever seen at SJP. He might not have been a number 9 to go down in the history books but I will always remember Loverman as a good player for us.

This. And we didnt spend a penny on him.

EDIT: and to be fair, he's already scored 2 this season

I love Lovenkrands - been great for us, but he is not good at all now. Hope he is reunited with Chris Hughton at Birmingham - would do well there imo

    Or maybe back at Rangers?

Looking at his goal ratio for us, not really too far behind the £35m man, I think he's definitely pulled his weight.

While we're looking at ex players and soon to be ex players, Kuqi has scored 5 in 8 since leaving whilst Carroll has only scored 4 in 18. I think Liverpool splashed out on the wrong guy. <ok>

Haha. Kuqi is a great Pro and will do class lower leagues. Andy Carroll would do awesome for Stoke imo

Kuqi and Loverpants... Love em both! Not the best players by any means but always giving 100% and always gracious and modest which is very rare these days.

The thing is though, his ratio was boosted by the CC, and that bares no real relevance to his ability in the EPL, as even fairly pants strikers can do well there.

    08-09 - EPL - 3 goals in 12 apps
    09-10 - CC - 13 goals in 29 apps
    10-11 - EPL - 6 goals in 25 apps

He works hard, but he's never, ever been good enough for the Premier League.

Okay I take it back. Andy Carroll is a better player than Peter Lovenkrands.

Also to clarify, Andy Carroll is better than Shefki Kuqi since his recent goals have been scored in League One, a much weaker league than the Premier League where Carroll has been playing.

In Smith's defence, he was never signed as a striker, he hadn't played up front for over a year when we signed him. He played 1 game up front for us against Arsenal and he was outstanding.
