In the 10 remaining league games Newcastle play only three teams that are currently above them in the league – Manchester United at home, and Liverpool and Chelsea away.

And Newcastle still have to play Wolves, Birmingham and WBA at home and Blackpool away – and those are four sides that are currently in the bottom six in the league table – 12 points?

So if Steven is right we should be able to pick up quite a few points over the remainder of this season, starting with 3 points against Everton on Saturday of course.

We’ll see how we do, but it’s hardly a daunting last 10 games to be playing.

personally i think the hardest games will be against those 4 scrapping for survival

Famous last words? I agree the hardest games could be against the four that the author has predicted 12 points from.

Can't see us getting 3 points from Blackpool mate, but i reckon 7/9 points from those 3 "easy" home games is achievable.

Newcastle 3-1 Birmingham
Newcastle 3-2 WBA
Blackpool 2-1 Newcastle.

I am confident that in the next 2 or 3 games will will have enough points 'to stay up', ie. over 40. And from there the pressure is off, to an extent, so we could start playing without fear and getting some win's that would previously have been draws. I'm confident about our run in.

I reckon if we beat Everton and get ourselves on 39 points, and hopefully in 6/7th place depending on how results go, Pardew will accept that we're guaranteed safety (I think his target was 40 points wasn't it?). Maybe then he'll get the lads to push for Europe, so when we play the teams fighting for survival we'll have something to fight for ourselves, rather than just 'seeing where we end up' and not getting the results we're capable of.

The thing is over the season the teams in the relegation scrap have been useless, so what's to say they'll change now?
