Looking at the table, I believe Shrewsbury and Cambridge are down. Shrewsbury are 14 points from safety and Cambridge are 11 points from safety. So to me, there are 2 remaining relegation places up for grabs. Here are the remaining fixtures for the teams who are realistically involved in the battle to avoid winning these 2 final relegation spots. I have gone as far as the team that are less than 10 points ahead of the relegation zone. 22nd Crawley: 7 games to play, on 36 points. 4 Home: Peterborough, Leyton Orient, Exeter and Northampton 3 Away: Stevenage, Birmingham and Shrewsbury 21st Burton: 8 games to play, on 36 points. 5 Home: Leyton Orient, Huddersfield, Birmingham, Cambridge and Wigan 3 Away: Wrexham, Exeter and Charlton 20th Rovers: 7 games to play, on 42 points. 4 Home: Birmingham, Exeter, Stevenage and Reading 3 Away: Bolton, Wrexham, and Blackpool 19th Northampton: 7 games to play, on 43 points. 4 Home: Rotherham, Reading, Shrewsbury and Wigan 3 Away: Peterborough, Charlton and Crawley 18th Wigan: 9 games to play, on 44 points. 4 Home: Bolton, Wrexham, Rotherham and Blackpool 5 Away: Leyton Orient, Exeter, Shrewsbury, Burton and Northampton 17th Exeter: 8 games to play, on 45 points. 4 Home: Stockport, Wigan, Burton and Huddersfield 4 Away: Barnsley, Rovers, Crawley and Mansfield 16th Rotherham: 8 games to play, on 45 points. 3 Home: Blackpool, Mansfield and Peterborough 5 Away: Northampton, Bolton, Stockport, Wigan and Stevenage 15th Peterborough: 8 games to play, on 45 points. 4 Home: Northampton, Birmingham, Stockport and Bolton 4 Away: Crawley, Barnsley, Mansfield and Rotherham
We only have to face 1 of the current bottom 10 sides (Exeter). Everyone else has to play 3 or more of the bottom 10 sides. Wigan and Northampton still got 5 of the bottom 10 teams to play and Northampton only got 7 games left. The positive from that is a lot of teams will be dropping points against each other with some crucial 6 pointers. The negative is a lot of teams will pull away from the drop zone leaving us behind as 2 of our remaining 7 games are against the top 2 teams and 3 are against teams trying to secure a play off place. So we have some tough games ahead.
The form table is not looking good over the last 4 games for 5 of the current bottom 10 sides - Shrewsbury, Rotherham, Cambridge, Rovers and Burton, all who are struggling. Shrewsbury and Cambridge are pretty much down already but Rotherham, Rovers and Burton look the most likely to fill the last 2 remaining relegation places. Rotherham have sacked Steve Evans as manager today and most of the backroom staff. Their fans don't seem happy with who is acting manager until the end of the season. They could get a new manager bounce meaning we are in trouble. Or they could have just screwed themselves over.
After the last three performances I honestly can’t see where our next points are coming from. We have a very tough run in. Both Burton and Crawley are showing some signs of life and a bit of fight but we are not. If I was a betting man I would back us to get relegated, it’s so bloody depressing.
I am hoping for a discount on my season ticket for next year as I believe we will be playing league 2 football next year
I do think we will end in the bottom 4. We are purely relying on 4 clubs being worse than us to survive because we cannot rely on ourselves I'm afraid.
